Agents cant see award space that i can see on the app/wesbite!?

Agents cant see award space that i can see on the app/wesbite!?

hello,

QR is really testing my patience this evening. I currently have an avios xxx - DOH - MLE redemption booked all in J and want to switch it to yyy - DOH - MLE with the first leg in J and second in F since there is availability at seemingly the same rate. i've crossed check this on several different websites (AA, BA, QR app, QR desktop) and they are all showing availability in both classes. so i call in, speak to two agents, both who say "sorry sir, yyy - DOH is not available". i am wondering how this is possible as yyy - DOH can be booked as both a single segment as as a married segment with DOH - MLE if were to do it myself.

for obvious reasons canceling xxx - DOH - MLE and rebooking the new itinerary myself is a nonstarter as that could open up a whole can of worms (points dont get refunded quickly enough, there is an error in the 85k rate, someone else books yyy - DOH - MLE a few seconds before i try to do it..). i would want QR to handle the swap.

moreover -- can someone please confirm if it is indeed true that a US - DOH - MLE itinerary with DOH - MLE in First costs the same as if DOH - MLE in J aka 85k points? thats the primary reason why i want to switch so if that is also a system glitch them i can drop this altogether... but i am determined lol

any thoughts are welcomed...

QR doesn't allow you to make this type of change. You'd need to cancel and rebook.

One of either the public or the in house reservations systems is wrong

It is not unheard of for public facing booking interfaces with various airlines to show phantom availability, and you would not know you could book that ticket for sure until you went through the whole booking process, including payment, and received your confirmed reservation and eticket number. An error may not show until after payment if the ticket was not actually bookable (any cash payment would be refunded automatically). But if 2 agents have told you it is not available my suspicion would be that they might be right.

Now on the other hand it could be that the main reservations system has the error... Do you have enough points to just book it online yourself anyway to find out?

The J rate F seat will only show if the other J sector is longer, and when you are booking the whole journey as one ticket.

And on a technical point, QR agents won't be able to switch your ticket to depart from XXX to from YYY, they would have to go through a cancel and rebook for the whole journey. So in very extreme circumstances you still run the risk of someone else getting in before you on one or other sector.

When you are searching for the availability are you searching for YYY - DOH and DOH - destination separately? If you are this doesn't work for Qatar, you need to search for YYY - destination if you want it booked as a through ticket. This is due to married segments logic that Qatar use.

You can search for YYY - DOH and DOH - destination only if you to book a self-connect with the inherent risks of a mis-connect that comes with that.

thanks, all. plunet , i could see the flight when searching for YYY - DOH - MLE as a single itinerary which is why i was confused that they agent couldnt see it (i verified it wasnt a married segment thing).

anyways, i did not have 85k points in my account to test this out (otherwise i definitely would have), and unfortunately the availability is gone today (color me shocked).

another day, another QR customer service representative (or two) letting me down....

That may be the case, but as mentioned it may also be that what you were seeing was an IT glitch which happens at many airlines, there wasn't really any availability and the CS agents were correct. The outcome is the same but the agents aren't automatically labelled unfairly
