Difficulty upgrading segments on Qatar
I am traveling DEN-DFW-DOH-LUS next week (QR ticket in economy-N). I logged in Saturday night and found 2 seats available for upgrade DFW-LUS (first segment is AA). The total Avios needed was 248K which was interesting since it should be 130k per person. I transferred points and repeatedly received error messages. I ended up calling Qatar 4 different times attempting to upgrade the segments. 3/4 of the representatives were unhelpful and ultimately I was locked out of my account for logging in too many times.
This morning I logged in and found 1 seat available. I attempt to upgrade and receive an error message stating technical difficulties but the website did split the PNR. The upgrade did not go through. This is my first time flying Qatar and the phone representatives have not been helpful. Does anyone have advice on for getting these segments upgraded? I don't want the 260K points I transferred to be trapped as Avios forever.

This isnt specific to upgrading but Ive come across technical difficulties error messages a bunch of times and then tried again later and succeeded. (And if that failed, tried again after that).
Regarding the customer service, try again there too?
for me, the customer service has been very hit and miss.

At a random guess, the AA segment is probably complicating things here. AA uses Sabre whereas QR and many other oneworld airlines use Amadeus. Having flights span different GDS systems is slamdunk source of frustration for most airlines when processing any change to a ticket. It's not an excuse, just statement of fact. QRs own IT is also probably at fault as well, but Amadeus+Sabre is rarely going to work well.

This exact thing happened to me a few months ago trying to upgrade to F. For me, I called them, told them the issue, they told me to wait till the next day, and then (very luckily) the OTP was working and there was still F availability.

I found their chat surprisingly helpful. I decided tp spend +200000 avios using the cash+avios option for +5000 tickets. After I selected the amount of avios to use and attempted to pay the remaining amount, I got a "page not found" message. Avios had been deducted from my account, but got nothing in return.
I immediately contacted QR via chat and it took only a minute to refund the avios. There was originally only two seats left in the fare class I attempted to book and noticed that the price had gone up by 1000 after my botched booking attempt. I used the chat function again and asked my unfinished reservation to be removed. After a minute or two, the two seats on the lower fare category re-appeared and I was able to book them succesfully.
Literally the quickest and most efficient service I have ever received from an airline in a tricky situation. Hopefully this is not a one-off. When I decided to try out the chat I was pretty sure I only get to discuss with a bot, but luckily this was not the case this time.

An update so far. I was able to update DOH-LUN separately as the reservation had been split. I was unable to select a seat for my wife and spent 45 minutes on the phone. It took them a total of 3 hours to fix the error in the reservation to select a seat. 1 seat became available on DFW-DOH and I upgraded my wife ticket. Again seat selection was not available. I used the chat feature this time and it took several requests for the agent to understand that I wanted to select a middle seat with an empty seat next to it (in hopes of another seat becoming available).
If no seats become available, should I go to the ticket counter or gate counter in DFW to inquiry about an upgrade?

Not going to start a new thread, as my question is related to the OP. Whenever I get an upgrade offer on the QR app and I click on it, it just goes to a white screen with no information. This happens all the time to me. So I go to the website on my laptop to MMB and select the offer from there. It usually works, though today I am being offered an upgrade, but when I click on either the web or on the app, I get the blank white screen. Does this mean that the offer is no longer 'on offer'?
Many thanks in advance Grantosol
