I’ve found most male QR cabin crew who’ve taken care of me (in J, granted) to have been perfectly competent, some quite friendly or charming, and most fairly handsome. Cheers to the QR boys! Granted, this is pre-COVID experience.

SFO - DOH
Business was 98% full and I felt they under-catered cause they were out of many things quickly.
Great flight Overall
Dungeness Crab - This was fantastic
Lobster thermidor - it was pipping hot, which I appreciate. It was okay but didn’t love the mushrooms mixed inside. I would rate this 3rd compared to (1) EVA , (2) SQ
Seafood cioppino - fantastic small snack. Burger was okay and maybe only western thing they had.

That’s fun. I was on the same flight SFO DOH.
You are absolutely right.
The soft-spoken purser and his crew were great.
SFO did a fine job with its catering.
May I add the ginger carrot soup, which was exceptional?
Scones were huge.
Champagne choice was dismal: Lallier or Gosset. I went with something similar to their Champagne Cocktail.
A memorable flight indeed.

Maeen, the purser, assured me QR are currently considering how best to revert to the full inflight dining experience, away from single-tray.
I wondered when hot and cold towels would return.
He argued that crew needed to touch the towels when preparing them and did not see them coming back any time soon.

if the tray is there, it’s not like they used to serve pre covid.
Also the dishes were different and much more nicely presented, especially for the soup and main
champagne problems but problems nonetheless haha

I just don't see how the soup serving was different. Maybe my memory failed, although I have had numerous soup before covid as well as recently.

this pic is from dec 2019 not long before the changes started
soup course
also the nicer bread and fake candle contribute to the difference, all together does feel more like a “fine dining” experience

At this stage of my involuntary and wanton withdrawal from having the chance to fly on QR, I couldn't care less about the tray. I just miss that QR hospitality, even if the crew are all wearing their hygiene theatre scenes of crime investigator CSI outfits. I miss the globe trotting, the adventures.. and eating a 5 course meal on QR with way too much wine and then sleeping it off for a few hours before Doha and then doing it all again on the connecting flight to Asia.

Last two transits in DOH, the upstairs part of Al Mourjan was closed because it was "too full," and the downstairs section behind the staircase was partitioned off for construction. Hot food was limited to table service for those stuck downstairs. As usual, the capacity goes in waves, but it was disappointing. Service was excellent, and I always love the fresh-made salad station (if you can get up there).
