Nasty. I have 4 QR flights in next 10 day, starting tomorrow.
Let's hope that at least decent rose champagne is still served onboard

Regards,

Even QR is avoiding the Tehran FIR whereever possible. Only a handful (set the filter to QTR in FR24) in that FIR right now.

I was on last night's QR807 from Tokyo which flew over Iran on time (I was oblivious to what had happened until landing); tonight's 807 departed 40 minutes late but is expected well over two hours late so looks to be taking the long way round.

Could work on one's favour with opup if one is in Y with status - OK it's not Q Suites but it's still lie flat J. As long as the plane doesn't get shot down.

Trump seems to be going down the sanctions route so I don't think we should over hype the situation, albeit I understand the high tensions. Both Iran and the US have had their go and it seems have lowered the anger levels.

Sorry might be a noob here but why is Emirates still flying over Iraq now?

Edit: Just to add a bit more context, based on the link above?

Seems like business as usual here.... heard nothing, but I have not asked.... QR ground staff challenged in good times,
I may throw away my return ticket and book hone over Asia if things don’t settle down fast.

Based on Trump's comments today things are looking more promising. Each side has had their "punch".

Probably paranoia but it didn't feel right.
Not paranoia. When working last year, out of a 3 year stint after retiring from the FAA, as a liason/controller at Baghdad Approach we were routinely alerted to missiles flying from the Caspian Sea to Syria from the Russians with no notice and no way to track them via radar. Just were told it was happening, and to use caution vectoring from around the Kirkuk area to the Turkish boarder.

I've just cancelled 2 J vacation flights from ATL, one to PEN via DOH and the other to BEG that were supposed to happen in the next 3 months.

I'm going to sit this one out.

The good news was that of de-escalation (for now) from both sides. I have two trips to SEA coming up on QR from AMS via Doha over the next few weeks, and feel at least somewhat relieved. Essentially back to where we were last week with a dose more mutual wariness.
