Can't Choose Flight. Advice Please!

Evening all,

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Milan deal to Hong Kong for September. Can you please help with flight choose.

From Milan to Doha there are 3 flights and all 3 are different aircraft. A330, B777 and A350.

I can rule out the A350 due to the flight timing but should I chose one of the other two for any particular reason? Either better than the other and I believe there is an upgrade program for the 777 so I may end up getting a QSuite giving its not for another 10 months.

We'd really prefer not to get an older looking interior that I've seen on YouTube.

Any advice with these aircraft and routings will be great.

Thank you in advance.

I tried their A330 and B777 in Y. What I could say is thier A330 in Y has superior legroom, it is like 35-36". But B777 Y legroom also quite good, at least 33~34". But the down side of A330 is there is no USB and AC outlet. Seat width wise both are similar.

So far, their A340 offer least comfort.

At this point I'd recount the First Rule of Flying with QR, but seeing as you've already booked, it would be pointless.

Enjoy the flights!

Second Rule of Flying with QR is that I never get Qsuite.

Please quote it!

Is it not to count on a QSuite because of how often they change their aircraft?

Never book a QR trip purely based on the aircraft type.

Substitutions happen occasionally, especially on routes with QSuites, and BKK.

You've got a double whammy!

BKK is one of the routes which suffers the most last minute airframe changes.

QSuites regularly get swapped out - here's a timely reminder: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qata...mpensatio.html

Oh I see.

I've set up Expert Flyer alerts so I'll find out pretty quickly if this happens.

I do hope to try it on one leg. I'll be very happy with that.

I completely agree, but you and I both know that the swaps happen unfavourably, far more often than they do the other way around.

Well, now, M, just a minute. If a QSuites plane is swapped out of one route, doesn't that mean, almost by definition, that it's getting swapped into another, assuming that there aren't numbers of QSuite equipped aircraft sitting idle?

Technically yes - if a QSuite aircraft is swapped out, it will be used elsewhere which will benefit those who may have booked on a standard 777.

However, my point was that plenty of people book their flights to experience the QSuite - and with regular swaps, there are more passengers who will feel disappointed.

Ah, I see your point. Expectations. I went through this several years ago when CX introduced the new F product. These same conversations were going on the CX forum. Eventually I just stopped caring because at some point I'd get to try the new product since all the long haul aircraft were being converted.

I tell you, M, -- not caring is incredibly liberating!
