Almost everyone here knows that. But what's the point if your view is of the engine and wing?

The engine and the wing aren't the only thing one would see. I find that the wings help elegantly frame the view of the outside world.

Interesting. My mom just flew QSuites from DOH to CCU on the 7th. I didn't realize it was being used on that route yet.

CCU uses a 787-800. As far as I know, none of these have QSuites. Are you saying they used a different type of plane? Or, with apologies, is she aware of the differences between reverse-herringbone and QSuites? Both have single seats on the side.

Like all the other new things, QSuites will eventually be fully integrated into the fleet. I remember when the new CX F hard product came out, people were clamoring to get flights that had it. But now, they all do. The same will happen with the QSuites, of course. I've had one QSuites flight, BKK-DOH. I thought that they were nice, but not really that much better than the window seat on the 359, which I fly often and quite like.

Most routes are not immune to a/c swaps, and it is very much possible that CCU was flown with a Qsuite equipped a/c.

Hello Guys,

I have just made booking with QR OSL-DOH-PER-BNE. After booking I realised that because my aircraft will be A350-900 and A380 I will not get on Q suite aircraft. So I am looking for some advice please. Do I see if I can change to B777 flight from Sydney on the way home which is flying Q suite I believe at present buy may not have Q suite 777 when I fly in January or do I just leave the booking as it is? I also realise that by going BNE - SYD- DOH - OSL I am also losing out on 80 tier points. Thank you.

I would not bother. The A359 window seat is excellent, and I would not go out of my way just to get Q-Suites especially if the 80 TP's have any value for you. I quite like the spacious feel of the A350 cabin
In another while, Q-Suites will be the default seat when flying QR J

Depends on various factors, how much you'll have to pay, what the timing difference will be, how relevant 80 TP are for you and so on. But generally speaking it's probably not worth it. A359/3888 are good as is, better than ending up in a 777 without Qsuites (unless you travel with a companion, then the normal 777 aren't that bad either). The only aircrafts in QR's long haul fleet I might pay a relevant amount of money for to avoid them are the A330/340. Not that this is relevant on your route, just generally speaking.

+1

Whilst I was very impressed with my recent Qsuites flight, I really loved the airiness of the normal A350 cabin. Right now, Qsuite is a gimmick and it will die down eventually as most of the fleet will be reconfigured at some point. I personally, would not to go out of my way to fly Qsuites if deemed unnecessary, and certainly not when going to lose out of TPs.

I am doing exactly the same route on the way out, returning MEL-DOH-ARN. How are you losing the 80TPs? Are you referring to not going via PER on the return?

Ah, OK. Do they give any notice of equipment swaps?

You can set an ExpertFlyer equipment change alert. However, equipment swaps do sometimes occur last minute.

I feel vindicated  I visit family in SYD (ex-EU) once a year so had the choice between the Q Suites service or 380 this year, and while I'm very keen to sample the suites I just couldn't go with the much, much worse (to me) timings. Now I can happily enjoy the bar on the A380 knowing it's good to be tired when I land at 1835, rather than suffer the scrum that is SYD at 0600! And on the way back, the 2200 departure gives me more time in the QF F lounge, and the red-eye on the long leg.

She specifically said that it was a 777. I was surprised it wasn't the Dreamliner. She isn't too aware, but she said there was a door to her cubicle, and a video about QSuites.

Yeah, I apologize for doubting her. Flightaware and other sources confirm that it was a 77L on Aug. 7 DOH-CCU.

However, Flightaware shows that on Aug. 8 (the turnaround flight), CCU-DOH was a 788, which is a neat trick.
