Thanks for the information. So then the question, at least for me, become when in October! That's very interesting since I thought they only have 2 A351 birds right now. Anyone know what the delivery schedule looks like for A359/A351 for rest of the year?

I am going to correct myself here. The staff member mentioned A350's but I might have thought they were all -1000's because I thought only the -1000's were being fitted with Qsuites. So it may be that both flights will be operated by A350-900s (or A350-1000's) with Qsuites. The more important point being that from October, both JFK flights will have Qsuites. Apologies if I caused confusion.
That said, you can take a look at the following site for the A350 production list: https://sites.google.com/site/a350xw...roduction-list You will see that there is only one A350-941 that is even close to delivery (A7-AME / F-WZGF). In fact, just today it took its first test flight. If all goes well then normally the earliest it would be delivered (or more accurately picked up) by Qatar would be around six weeks from today. A7-AMF, also a A350-941, is still undergoing cabin fit so it presumably is at least 8-12 weeks out from delivery. You will also notice they have FOUR A350-1041 that are almost ready for flight testing (A7-ANC, A7-AND, A7-ANE. A7-ANF). One is ready, another is being painted and the last two are waiting for painting. So realistically the earliest those would come into service would be mid-Sept. The following document explains the Airbus assembly process. |
Does it do any good if I complain about last minute Qsuites to non-Qsuites equipment swap?

Don't know... thats what I wanted to know.
If it is compensation one is after, one doesn't really have any right for that as an airline is legally required to transport a passenger between A and B (and equipment changes are excluded from the conditions of carriage). |

one would most likely get dismissed with one of those generic apology formatted replies and nothing more, that is even considering that one gets a reply.

So I was originally booked on QR15 tomorrow (DOH-LHR, 22nd of July 2018) which was an A350-1000 with qsuites. When I went to check in, I noticed there was an aircraft change to a 777-300 with 2x2x2 config (ugh).
I gave Qatar Privilege a call (I am BA Gold/OW Emerald) and because of the aircraft change, they moved me to QR1 on the same day which will have qsuites. This was done at no cost and apparently a Qatar policy? I can't imagine many airlines doing this so a big thank you to Qatar and Elaina! |

A few months ago Qatar announced the daily ORD - DOH flight would be converted over to the QSuites config (777-300ER) by April 1, 2018. I have an upcoming trip through DOH in February / 2019, and the seat config still shows the old 2-2-2, even if I choose various dates right next to each other. Anyone flown on the route yet? Qatar customer support says it's not on the route yet, but it seems really crazy that it will be delayed almost a year from it's debut announcement on the route.
Edit: looks like the seat is Qsuites but changes to standard 2-2-2 on 10/28/18 - 4/1/2019, which is a giant bummer if true. I suspect that they may not yet have uploaded the winter equipment schedule? If you look on the QR Cargo website (qrcargo.com/checkrouting), there is no equipment listed past 10/27/18. Usually the QSuites 773's are listed as "77P." Where do you see 2-2-2? Are you checking seat maps on Expertflyer? |

Hello FT’ers. I’ve just flown my first Q-Suites on QR007 DOH-LHR and while the hard product is indeed incredible, the service was not as expected. For starters, there was no snack platters menu despite this being much lauded, and I found the door, whilst amazing for privacy, also means you lack the frequent interaction with crew that ordinarily makes QR service so intuitive. From other TR’s I see that unless the DND button is pressed, the crew would regularly check on passengers by slightly opening the door, but that didn’t happen once on this flight - a first world problem I know. This trip gave me 3 other J class flights on the A380, A359 and 773 (pre-retrofit) and the service on all 3 was better than with Q-Suites. Perhaps it’s because the suites configuration makes it difficult to make eye contact with crew even when the door is open, or maybe it was a one off - the crew did seem especially hurried and when I could grab them they were attentive as always, but I’m keen to know if the lack of proactive service (and snack platters menu!) is a wider issue - any experiences of this? |
