Luggage check-through (24hrs+)
Hello!
I've already tried with QR to get an answer but they weren't able to help so I'm hoping somebody can help us packing correctly here!
We have AKL flights coming up in J:
FRA-DOH-HKG-AKL
Originally it's been a 23 hours and 50 minute layover in HKG. This obviously would've been ok for luggage through checking.
The flights got a little bit changed and are now little over 24 hours and hence splitted into two segments: FRA-DOH-HKG / HKG-AKL (HKG-AKL was and is CX) I'm not sure if there's a 24hrs max. for through checking from either QR or HKG Airport?
As it's just a day in HKG we'd love to check our luggage through from FRA to AKL, just taking some hand baggage things to change.
Do you think that's still possible?
Thanks already!
----
Another (side) topic: On the flight back we've got AKL-SYD-DOH-PSA and we will position with BA to LHR from PSA after a 3.5 hour stay. I know there's officially no more interlining within One World, plus the AKL-SYD is on LATAM (hence we're checking in at a LATAM desk), but maybe somebody knows how realistic it is to get the luggage through on the back? I think 3.5 hrs should normally be fine to collect the luggage and check it in, but of course through checking is always easier!

pebadian as I wrote to you a few days ago "I can see no reason for QR not to accept your luggage all the way to AKL unless HKG customs have a 24 hour baggage transit rule. I have not heard of one but!!
To help you with check-in at FRA I think that you need to check all bags in all the way to AKL and not try to short check one bag. Keep everything you need in your hand luggage. Since you are only transferring at HKG there is no reason to force you to collect your bags and check them in again. The transfer desk at HKG should be able to help you if FRA insist on short checking your bags. Using the transfer desk will get around any possible HKG restrictions.
As you can understand I am no expert in this area so please feel free to ask the forum again and see if some of the experts can answer you."

pebadian as of June this year airlines were no longer required to through check bags on separate tickets. Note that it is not required, not forbidden! So if you ask nicely, and have the PSA-LHR ticket available in your hand, you may get lucky. It all depends upon the check-in agent. Since they are all OW airlines you will have a reasonable chance of through checking.

I asked a similar question about DOH recently but didn't get a clear answer.
I'm flying JFK-DOH-SIN on QR with a 36-hour stopover at Doha. If I want to through-check my bags, so they don't clear Customs at Doha, will QR do it?

MegatopLover if you reread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qatar...pover-doh.html you will see that you were advised that is was possible but only if you check all your bags through to SIN and not try to keep one only for DOH. Your hand luggage will have to cover your needs.
