QR PC metal
Hi,
After reading through the forum, wanted to confirm this please. Did I properly understand that it's better to credit miles flown on QR metal to BAEC rather than crediting them to QR's PC?
All flights are in economy. Objective would be award flights to southeast Asia (HKG/ICN/HND). Flights would be originating from CDG or DXB.
Thanks
Edit: the reason I was confused by what I read through the forums is because once I used the QR calculator vs the BA calculator (checked for both miles received and award chart), it seemed you get more miles with QR so easier to attain status, but QR chages more miles than BA (not sure about taxes though). But also QR flies those routes more than BA. So I was confused on what to reside on as miles aren't equal among programs so the hamster is running in circles haha
If you could help clear it up, it would be great

A very simplistic measure is how many flights on one route to get that same flight as an award.
Nominally saver awards are the available to all Oneworld airlines ffp's. You can redeem awards on QR with BA avios and vice versa
How many flights from where to where in what booking class?
Low priced economy flights now do not earn much in any ffp.
For redeemable miles/points/avios www.wheretocredit.com/qr
Determining status earning is much more difficult
Look here. Post 3 has linked threads. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...help-here.html
USA based airline ffp's tend to be more generous (status benefits/earn/burn/upgrades/award cost/award cash surcharges/expiry/affiliated credit card ff mile earning/promotions) compared to non USA based airline ffp’s (even after the recently announced changes to some USA ffp’s). But if you are not flying the airline of your ffp the useful benefits are somewhat limited. But with the change of most USA based ffp's to revenue based for own airline flights, flying the airline with best fares and best schedule that matches your requirements now has merit. And treating any ff miles as a bonus that may or may not be able to be used.
The airline you fly most or an airline of the country you live is the best ffp for many people. Generally you are better earning on your primary airline due to greater recognition, better service when disruptions, ability to upgrade flights and possible operational upgrades.
Earning miles from non flying activities is easier with an airline of your home country.
Frequent flyer miles are not equal to earn or burn between ffp’s. 10,000 frequent flyer miles in 1 ffp may get you a longer award flight than 15,000 frequent flyer miles in another ffp. And then there is award cash surcharges with some ffp’s/routes/airlines. On awards taxes are the same for all airlines for the same route/class. Award surcharges can/are different
Awards assistance tools
Use at your own risk. These may not be up to date. (These are not recommendations)
If a multi segment award check the rules/cost carefully. With some ffp’s it can 2 or more awards.
Some awards/airlines/routes can have cash surcharges, in addition to real taxes.

There are several factors which go into this analysis. For the points part of the analysis, I use a modified earn/burn ratio. I try to answer the question: How many of the flights for which I usually pay does it take to earn a ticket for which I usually try to redeem? (Most of my flying is on the same route.)

What do you want to use your miles for? These are the two main differentiators for me:
Short haul BA redemptions in Europe? BAEC wins by far.
Upgrades for QR flights booked in Economy? QR PC wins.
For me, I value the upgrades and so I credit to QR PC. I also value the tier bonus that comes with status.
However, BAEC is much easier to redeem award flights with both with BA and other oneworld carriers - you can do this fully online with BAEC whereas the process for partner awards is tricky with QR PC.
As noted above, for Economy the cheapest fares will only earn you 25% of miles flown - this is where status may come into play (with up to 100% bonus when you reach QR Platinum). If you are crediting QR Economy flights to BAEC, you won't receive any bonus miles and so it will probably take you a while to build up a decent bank of miles...
So my view is that it depends on your priorities! I have been very happy with QR PC personally
