Closed threads and negative reports on Qatar

Anyone know why FT keep closing negative threads on Qatar airways?

We've had two threads closed now in relation to "QR CEO cancelled an ex-employee's ticket down route & screamed at her in the airport" - why? Are people not allowed to express their opinion anymore? What happens if someone has a negative experience whilst flying Qatar?

Anyone else think this is odd?

Thanks^

Hi, SgtrRyan, as per FT rules:

Stay On Topic

FlyerTalk exists for the discussion of frequent flyer programs and the related travel experience. With the exception of the few areas specifically designated for the discussion of other topics, confine your comments as closely as possible to these topic areas and to the topic of the thread and forum in which you are posting.

___

Basically, the main point of these forums to offer travelers and FF advice on traveling. Yes, sometimes we hear a story here and then on how "Traveller X was treated by Air Y" and yes its allowed to post.

Im a mod, but not at these forums; and some topics do get off-track unintentionally.

Lets keep it an aviation forum; and lets all be friendly with one another

So because the CEO of Qatar has a temper problem and behaves like a little child, no one is not allowed to post on it? ...because that is not related to travel or a frequent flyer program? Interesting that over in the Virgin forum many people post about Rich B which is not related to anything travel, yet that never gets deleated....hhhmmm double standards me thinks!!

And of course...always be friendly with one another!!

I would make the case that these threads are highly relevant for frequent and occasional flyers who used to work with Qatar Airways, and so are on-topic.

From experience FT has a fairly strict line on discussing people, wether they are members or not, unless you are in OMNI or OMNI/PR.

Also, FT has a strict policy on meta-moderation, so watch this thread get locked and possibly disappear into thin air very shortly.

PS: I'm a moderator elsewhere, and I have no issue with the policy at FT, and each site is (mostly) free to choose the guidelines they so wish.

Agreed, it is very relevant. This attitude permeates the organization and bleeds down onto the customer. The fact that AAB/QR would be petty enough to threaten legal action against FT is psycho.

The BA, AA, UA, AF, LH, etc... boards all bash the respective airline leadership. It is an art form on the AA/UA boards when bashing Doug and Jeff. So the argument being made here that FT policy does not allow for discussion on people is bunk.

AAB needs to toughen up and stop acting like spoiled child.

The laws are different in Qatar though, especially in the specific area of discussing people and companies on the internet, even if what you're saying is factually correct.

Members have properly stated that threads or posts that violate the FlyerTalk Rules are closed or deleted, as well as that the Rules prohibit discussion of Moderator actions.

Any discussion about why threads have been closed are best taken up withe the appointed forum moderators. They can be contacted by using the "Alert a moderator to this post" radio button (the one that looks like a white, red-edged triangular traffic sign with exclamation point in the center - it pops up a form directed to the specific forum's Moderators, or to the four Senior Moderators if the forum is us moderated) or via PM to the forum moderator(s), in this instance, Zol.

I am now closing this discussion and Alerting Zol to it so the issue can be handled as Zol sees fit (which may include deleting this thread).

Note: one can access the Rules by clicking on the Help menu (right end of the page top blue menu bar).
