Lol I did read it - perhaps because it was 2am and after two glasses of red I missed that vital bit of info. But thanks anyway!

So....the new 332 can be differentiated by the Y cabin going up to row 41. This isn't something I will be able to view in MMB though as it will only display me the J class map.
QR does not allow one to make a 'dummy booking' to see what seats are in Y either.

So...back to my original question....is there any way to tell from the j class map displayed on MMB to distinguish the old from new seats?

I guess judging my maclovers reply the answer is no?

You could try making a dummy booking in Y at expedia. Normally you can see on their site the seatmap in advance. Just choose your route/date and carrier and under details there should be the seatmap.
Checking the route on theqatarsource.com tells me that most of the aircrafts are the ones with flat bed with some occasional nonflat. So your chance is quite high to get one with a flat bed.

Thanks Solfi! That worked! :-) The seat map on expedia shows the last row of Y as 40. So i'm guessing that means the angle seats in J? :-(

bananahead,

There are two versions of the refurbished A330-200s. The more recent refurbished A332 have exactly the same seat layout as the non refurbished A332 so you can't always tell via the seat map.

How confusing! Lol. Fingers crossed then.

However given how often QR switch equipment at the last minute I never hold my breath until I step foot on the aircraft.

332v1: horizontal J WiFi. A7-ACA,B,C,D,E,F,H. To distinguish from other A332, economy goes up to row 41.

+1 The takeaway from the wiki is you can't really tell because SOME of the new planes are identical to the old ones configuration wise.

CRK this week has been served by A333 and A332 mostly with slope. Very unlucky.

Supposed to fly DOH-CDG on QR41 28 september. Aircraft has been changed for the fourth time. Now A333 with five rows of J seats. So, it must be the old 165 seat.
Greuh!

The refurbished A333 have 5 rows in business too, and some of the refurbished A333 have the exact same layout in economy as the non refurbsihed ones. You will most likely get a refurbished one.

I will do an update to the wiki in a few days with better info on how to identify which sub-type you will get.

Thanks, but I am quite confused.
I assume that post #1 in this wiki is not up to date.

But how did QR fit five rows of new flat J seats on the A333?
Did they add an additional row in the former Y section and reduced the Y pitch to keep the same number of Y seats?

I see what they did on the A340 and 777. They basically fit four rows of new seats into the old five rows of old seats. But how do they do it on A333 to keep five rows?

The first 7x refurbished A332 used the 777 seat which takes up more space so they can only fit 3 rows between L1 and L2. The refurbished A333, A346 and latter A332 have a seat design based on the flat product on the A320 and all business A319 that uses a similar amount of space as the old seat so they can fit in the same amount of seats.
