QFF joining fee?
I've finally convinced Mr k_sheep to start joining me on weekends away, and have booked 3x round trip qantas tickets domestically. Consequently I'd like him to join up to the QFF program to start accruing points.
Does anyone know of any discount or freebie deal going on to reduce that $82.50 fee? Or would he be better off joining another FFP (unlikely, since most of our travel is in discount economy domestically).
Thanks!

1) Join the Qantas Club (costs way more, but QFF membership is included) - details here, and AFF has corporate scheme which obtains a moderate discount
2) Enrol with an address that is not in Australia or New Zealand (you can 'move' to Oz at a convenient time in the future). The address needs to be real though as correspondence would go there. I imagine this option would be on shaky ground as far the QF T&C's go (assuming you are an Oz resident)
There is speculation that Qantas is considering dropping the joining fee altogether, but it is just that (speculation) and even if it were to happen, no idea when that will be.

There is still a promotion to get a free QFF membership for anyone signing up to an earth card. Mind you, there is still the annual fee to pay (and even that is $75 for the bottom of the range card)

Thanks for the replies - I'd seen the earth and QP deal, QP would be a waste of money and since we're applying for a home loan (gulp!) soon, we're trying to get our credit card limits down (why does it matter if the balance is always positive anyway? Arggh! End rant).
Overseas address is a possibility but yeah, could be hard to pull off. Reckon we'll just pony up the dough and try and drink $82.50 worth on our BNE-PER route

Just be aware that while this might not violate the letter of the T&Cs, it might violate the spirit of the fine print.

I don't actually know too many other people with an overseas address, and the 2 people who I would normally ask (who live in the UK) are actually currently in Oz for their parents' funeral. So I'm not comfortable asking them favours right now!
We just paid the money, good T&C abiders we are
