As Icarius suggested, try some of the mentioned software. Which booking class are you in? If in D, try to see whether there is still C and J availability. Your corp travel agent can tell you this as well. If you have something like D0, C8, J9 there is a good chance to get it. If you have J2 or something like this you might be in trouble.
Oh, and keep on calling to put some preassure on yield management in Melbourne.

Not really true. QF is notorious in keeping all discounted buckets as hard to get as possible. Even to other Oneworld Emerald Members. I am trying to get a SYD-JFK clear where all SUB Class are showing 9 (FAJCYBHetc....) except D. But still not cleared....

You might be forced to fly a date which is not over the weekend. QF are confident they can sell out Business Class without the need to "give away" D class seats. This is not the case on mid week flights - so there is (or should be) plenty on D availability. This is much the same as LHR-SYD flights as well as JFK/LAX/SFO-SYD flights.

Thanks for your help... :-:
I managed to get seats there and back, but not on the dates I wanted, nor the route I wanted - the main thing is that I will be able to be there the dates I need to be there
cfcwaytobe's comments about it being a busy sector are so true... I travel there regularly and always have to wait for the waitlist to be cleared.
Usually it either clears quickly (i.e. within a day or so) or I can be flexible with my dates. This time I have been waiting for 2 weeks for it to clear and had very little flexibility with dates.

Well, but there is at least some chance it might happen. I usually got almost everything cleared with QF. Sometimes it was tight and needed many calls but most of the time I got what I wanted. The only airline which is always not clearing waitlists for me is NZ.

How close to the departure dates are the waitlists clearing?

If you are flying on Sunday your ticket should have been issued already, correct?

As noted earlier, if waitlisted for a full J fare and the cabin is full, then the only way it can clear is if someone cancels. If waitlisted for a D fare then there is little chance of it clearing at this late stage.

Hello all -
Just wondering if anyone has any experience on the likelihood of a waitlist for L class clearing and if so when it usually takes place? The flights that I am waitlisted on are listed below with the current availability - all other Economy Class fare classes are zero.
QF108 JFK-SYD 14 JAN Y9 B9 H9 K9
QF108 JFK-SYD 15 JAN Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9
There is absolutely no L class availability from other QF USA gateways during that time-frame as well.
Thanks for any advice!

L is quite a low economy booking class, and mid January is peak season for travel down under. My guess is it won't clear until a couple of days before departure, if at all. I'd certainly make back up plans.

Thanks very much, Kiwi Flyer. Have a back-up plan in place of flying through Asia back to SYD - so at least have a way of getting back to Oz if the wait-list does not clear! Ideally, though would love to get on the evening flight through LAX to SYD rather than having to fly through Asia in the morning!
