Think of it this way..... The QF system is the best you will probably find across the Pacific, whilst it does have its problems, it still better having it than not. Could I suggest you ignore the "award-winning" marketing hype however!

EK have probably the best system in the world, but they can afford to do that because they stuff an extra seat per row in Y. I think EK see that paying extra for good IFE means that passengers won't notice the fact their seats are not particularly wide. Having said that, most of their passengers are not particularly wide so I guess that helps! I suspect that should they move their focus more towards North America their strategy might backfire.
