Companion Fares

We get companion flight deals all the time from BA and UA for business class flights out of North America. Does Qantas ever offer these deals?

How would one start getting such 'junk mail' from Qantas?

Thanks!

I presume you mean buy one full price ticket and recieve the second at a discount or free? I haven't heard Qantas doing this sort of promotion.

Some credit card companies offer a buy one get one free deal so maybe check those out. Amex iirc do but I don't remember seeing Qantas as one of the airlines to choose from.

As for recieving junk mail from Qantas. Sign up on their web page. Unfortunately, us here in NA don't seem to get much in the way of mail of any sorts like those based in Australia. I think I have had one maybe two emails from QF in seven months.

Qantas offers companion fares to Australia from London - a usual sale fare is around £2,800 but I have seen companion fares for £2,200 through travel agent Travelmood. Maybe from North America they might be offered through a travel agent - one that specialises in Australia like Travelmood.

.
The AMEX Plat card seemed attractive with BOGOF (buy one get one free) but only so long as TG or NZ were the airline of choice - and those fares related to "full price" J (whatever they were). Careful buying could get two discounted Business tickets for the same price as a full fare anyway. Why bother and pay $900 AMEX card fee?

Would anyone use TG as their airline of choice with their (old) crappy J product?

TG's new business is supposed to be quite good. Now that A346 flies to AKL instead of the old 744s and MDs I keep meaning to try it out.

I'm sure that TG in J will do quite well once they can guarantee that all European flights out of BKK have the new J seats. It is just not worth the gamble at the moment though.

They'll probably up the fares quite a bit then though. At least from NZ that is half the flight in comfort for much less than SQ or CX or BA/QF or NZ.
