Well, perhaps some of us will get the chance to ask Brett about this on Friday night over a Beer (although as it's subject to a Court Case, he probably can't release anything that's not already in the public domain).

No. The reason he couldn't attend was that due to the "aircraft leasing issue" (that has been blown out of all proportion by the Media); VB have had to move a 2-day Management Meeting to encompass Friday and Saturday.

A couple of news reports from the last week, which might give some flavour as to Virgin Blue's position on the matter.


Virgin Blue was 'not audited' over tax

THE Australian Tax Office had not pursued Virgin Blue over its involvement in a scheme allegedly designed to avoid $70million in GST, according to an email from the airline's boss, Brett Godfrey, to staff at the weekend.

Airline Virgin Blue Holdings Ltd has started defamation proceedings against a newspaper which made allegations of tax evasion.

Virgin is suing Nationwide News Pty Limited in the NSW Supreme Court claiming damages, aggravated damages, interest and costs over a number of articles published by The Australian newspaper in late May.

The media aren't exactly Virgin Blue / Branson friendly in Australia...

I think Virgin are probably estatic to have a chance to hit back, though from my PR experience suing the media doesn't exactly make you friends...

But good on DJ for giving it to them.
