Availability of J on QF 1 5 May 06

Hi all,

Sorry for the trouble (cause I don't know how to do this yet), can anyone tell me if there are any sets available in J for QF 1 on 5 May? I am just interested: given QF's new policy of not advising any successful upgrade with points till at the airport, I have booked a flight on BA WT+. I would interested to know what level of J availability there is currently on QF 1 (I apreciate that this will mostly likely change) - I just want to see how I would have turned out if I'd booked Y on QF and taken the gamble of an update being available.

Cheers

The current state is not really relevant ; what matters is what is available when upgrade requests are processed and then the chance of upgrade would be dependant upon status and how early the upgrade was requested to determine position in queue within the status level

Taking WT+ is a good choice anyway; Full Status credit earning plus a pretty comfortable journey with no gamble and no use of 96,000 points ( assuming LHR destination )

Thanks very much for the info; the entire trip is SYD-LHR-VIE (twice, one leaving 5 May and the other leaving 29 May). I have never been too learned in reading the letters and numbers you've posted but am I correct in understanding that for SYD-LHR there are 9 J class seats available. What other fare classes would count in deciding deciding points upgrades.

Again, thanks for all your help. As an aside, can anyone pull out those letters/numbers if so from where?

'9' means there are 9 seats or more avialable for sale in the fare bucket. For Qantas Business class J/C/D/I/U are the letters.

J9 C9 D9 I9 U0 to BKK implies there are plenty of seats for sale as they are selling seats at a discount (D,I) Note: U is award availability and there are currently none allocated for either flight.

J9 C9 D0 I0 U0 to LHR implies that seats are starting to run out; while they are willing to sell at least 9 full priced business class seats they are not selling and in the discount classes.

Actually, "C" is now the code for discount international b/c fares; "D" is used only for "package" fares (RTW, circle etc). "I" is for special deals (not usually available from Australia).

SYD-BKK :There are exactly 12 seats left at the moment. Only 58 seats left in Economy and 1 seat in First.

BKK-LHR: 12 left in Business again, 31 in economy and none in first class. Busy!
