Fast track to higher status

A friend just advised me of an email they got from Qantas....

I just dropped from WP to SG..wonder if I will get a fast track back?

achieve Silver status faster than ever

Here's a very special offer - for selected Frequent Flyers only - that could turn your Bronze status to Silver.

Every time you fly Qantas within Australia between 15 August and 15 November 2005, you'll earn a Fast Track bonus of double Status credits*.

The privileges of higher status

Silver status brings a whole new world of benefits and privileges, including priority check-in, priority wait-listing, extra baggage allowances, preferred seating, 25% more points on flights and much more.

How soon can you get there?

To qualify for Silver status, you need to earn a total of 350 Status credits within your membership year^.

Now you really can achieve this sooner by flying Qantas within Australia during this special Fast Track period. For example, you'll earn 40 Status credits* should you fly discount economy Sydney to Melbourne return, between 15 August and 15 November 2005.

Plus, your Fast Track double Status credits* will be credited within 24 hours of flying, so your Silver status will apply almost immediately, when you qualify.

It says you need to fly QF within Australia, so doing a DONEx won't really help (except for any domestic QF flights of course).

Also, any half-decent DONE4 can get to WP quite easily now.

This offer may even be targetted...

IIRC double SCs has been targetted before (but prior to renewal rather than after).

Ok, how about the old BNE - ADL sc runs....

there are a few cheap fares around at the moment so maybe 2 or 3 of these?

There is a few one ways for $170 at the moment...so for about $1000 you can get yourself up to silver from NB....I know there is a few NB's on the board at the moment, you guys feel like spending the next few weekends in the city of churches?

Cheers

BNE-ADL is no longer just over a SC boundary (since the May changes).

However ADL-SYD is better than MEL-SYD, for example.

chart showing domestic routes by zone (zone 1 = 10 SCs in discount econ, 2 = 15, 3 = 20, etc).

Really?
Bugger, I should keep up to date more.
Thanks for the info. I will now only do BNE-SYD-ADL instead of direct.

How come the Kiwis know all of this stuff?

Cheers

Sc's

Ok, now BNE- ADL = BNE -CNS.
I know where I would prefer to do a sc run.

But here is the interesting one...BNE-SYD-ADL = 25 sc
therefor 50 sc per return trip.
Doubled under the fast track = 100 per trip
3 trips and you are nearly there.
$170 x 3 return trips equals $1020..
plus another day trip to SYD or MEL for $200 return.

Better than a poke in the eye with a bronze card, considering my last flight to ADL cost me $680 return (Short notice and K class) and only got me 80 sc's.

Cheers
Iain

There's good SC runs that can be done out of BNE to Blackwater from the 10th-25th of September. $85 out to Blackwater, and then $109 back via Emerald (as two separate sectors) - gives you 30 SC's for $194, not too shabby in these Fuel Surcharge affected times anyway (and double that to 60 SC's and it becomes a bargain). A similar thing can be done out of SYD to Armidale and Tamworth (though $20 more return all up).

Just keep in mind when you go via SYD to ADL you get whacked with another lot of surcharges for the second sector too, so ends up around $210 each way rather than $170 - still good value though overall. ^

Indeed, that was how Mrs QF WP retained Silver last year...there was a Double Status Credits thread...

Maybe it's on again but I would suggest like last time, targetted. Better check Mrs QF WP's email in box....
