Basic WP question - BA F Lounge access

As a new WP, and since the Unalaska Public Library (Aleutian Islands) doesn't have QF material (except for super slow high demand internet):
(1) is there; and (2) can I use the BA F Lounge in SFO (travelling BA in D class); and (3) if these are "yes" will the nice desk dragons let me in with a copy of a QF statement showing QF WP status?

Yes and Yes.

WP status should be reflected on your BP - but take along your statement just in case.

Unfortunately the BA F lounge in SFO is virtually indistinguishable from the BA J lounge, so you won't be in for much of a treat (unlike some other lounges where they are actually pleasant to be in). It isn't one of BA's better efforts. I wouldn't go out of my way to spend time in the SFO lounge (better to spend the time in the city or even elsewhere at the airport).

Just having the word emerald on the boarding pass is not enough for many BA lounges since the word emerald on the BP does not prove that the person has that status. They will normally ask for a card. You may be allowed in with a statement

The friendly desk dragons at LHR T1 were able to check my status on their computer when I first became SG and didn't have a card. It was all very efficient! The dragons at FCO didn't have this capability, but they eventually let me in just from having Sapphire on the BP. They took a bit of convincing though! Taking along a statement may have made it easier to convince them.

Thumbs down Finnair cant tell

Traveling B/c Finnair at helsinki Airport my mp didnt show ow sapphire(AA status so it may make a difference but shouldnt)
(apparently their system cannot check at all)
The desk dragon at the one world lounge would not let me in-
I was only travelling B.C and not sapphire.
I had to go into the paid type lounge!
I need to use a computer and there was NO WAY she was letting me in-without the actual card even when I showed my current statement.
I had only got sapphire a few weeks before so of course I didnt have the card.
Again at FCO BA cant tell what status you are they ahve to type it in.
INTERESTING isnt it.
so we got them to type in emerald-yep its on the boasrding pass!

"The dragons at FCO didn't have this capability, but they eventually let me in just from having Sapphire on the BP. "

There are also a lot of cases where people have been denied entry without a card. I would recommend getting a letter from Qantas explaining that a card is waiting to be issued or be prepared for possible refusal.

Travelling business class will permit access to the business lounge so , at worst, Og will still have access there

When I first qualified for SG, I saw the desk dragons at SYD T3 QP and explained I was flying to and from HKG on CX the next week. They issued me a temporary Qantas Club card clearly stating I was Gold and OW Sapphire. It did the trick at the CX lounge at HKG. Might be worth a shot.

When I went through SFO on a DONE4 arriving AA and departing BA, I went to the F lounge and was initially denied. This was because my BP has a QF FF membership number printed on it (mine) but no OneWorld Emerald printed. This was due to the TA entering my QF FF number without the leading zeros and the BA system didn't pickup my OneWorld status, just the number and assumed I was a QF Nobody.

When I said I was QF Plat she asked to see my card, and then saw the zeros and changed the number in the system. She then re-issued my BP complete with the Emerald identification and all was fine. So yes, the BA lounge dragons at SFO can see the QF/OW status if they have the QF FF number.

But I can second number_6's comment on the lounge. It is small and when I was there got very full. I had about 4 hours for my connection and when I arrived at the lounge I was the only person there. But by boarding time it was standing room only. So get in early and get a seat.

The F lounge looks out over the tarmac, but not to the runway side of the airport. You look out at the nose of the BA bird you are about to board.

Oh yes, and welcome og to the hallowed ranks of WP.

Forgive my confusion: are you saying there's a BA F lounge at FCO? Or am I being dense?

Thanks guys for those tips. Have just got off a boat bouncing around the waters off the Aleutians so am glad to be on dry land (that isn't moving constantly). I'll print off the latest statement so the nice DDs at BA SFO will warmly welcome us. Now to endure an AA overnight from ANC to DFW then to SFO...

Mate DFW-SFO is in one of those S80s - not a very comfortable J seat at all. And they call that "F"...

Very true... but try to get on AA463 - that one is served by 763.

You are being dense (as you left no other alternative). There was no mention of an F lounge at FCO, merely a BA lounge. BA has no F lounges in Europe outside of LHR and LGW.
