Emerald can access QF domestic Business lounges prior to departure of a oneworld flight.
QF Emerald (Platinum) can access QF domestic Business lounges after arrival of a QF flight; other oneworld Emerald cannot.

If so does the guest need to fly too?
it is really nice taking a guest into the lounge (like someone who is picking you up) with Virgin gold.

What is one’s entitlement according to the rules and what one can actually achieve with lounge access is often two very different things.

Access Domestic Business Lounges or the Qantas Club upon arrival if you have travelled that day on any flight with a Qantas (QF), Jetstar Airline (JQ, 3K, BL or GK), Emirates (EK), China Eastern (MU)or a oneworld® flight number on your ticket.

Hi there
Sorry if there's a straightforward answer elsewhere but was wondering if as a OneWorld Emerald I can a. access the lounge MEL after a domestic flight and b. if there's anything I can do with my hold bags in the meantime. Not looking for a free drink, just won't be able to check into my accommodation for a while after I land.
Many thanks in advance!

Generally yes, but because of your outbound, not your inbound to MEL (unless an overnight from PER). You will need to show your outbound J boarding pass (or ticket) (or, if applicable, your PER BP).
