Well one of the downsides is that the 6.30am QF SYD-PER flights have domestic seating, not even the skybed Mk I .

Off to VA I go

don't you find the skybed MkI planes in such a dishevelled condition that the domestic config's are a better product anyway? (obviously not as good as VA, but on the red tail)

Hi - could anyone please advise if QF 642 at 9.10am Perth to Sydney will have the new business seating? We fly in three weeks - if so as a couple (two upgrades for 40,000 points) would it be best to be seated in the middle - although it appears difficult to converse

djsflynn has also posted another article providing more info on Y IFE.
http://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-clari...nt-q-streaming

In essence it appears there will be 2 subfleets of the A332.
Suspected that those with IFE are more likely to end up on international routes, particularly as the remaining three non-refurb 747s are retired
(at present JQ still has 4 A330s, 2 of which are due back to QF, and 2 of which are reportedly going back to the lessee)

So the ultimate (by end-2016) A330 fleet will be as follows.

10 A330-300s 28J / 269Y, J 16" Panasonic ex3, Y 11" Panasonix exLite, Cloth seats in J
QPA-QPJ

8 A330-200s 28J / 243Y, J 16" Panasonic ex3, Y 9" Panasonic ex2 ??, Leather seats in J
EBM-EBV

10 A330-200s 28J / 243Y, J 16" Panasonic ex3, Y iPads, Leather seats in J
EBA-EBI,EBL
(assuming EBE/EBF come back from JQ, with EBJ/EBK to lessee)
(Edit other comments suggest EBE/EBF/EBJ/EBK to QF with 2 other aircraft back to lessees)

Waking up at 5am (2am Perth time) for the 6.30am means I'm so tired that I need 2 hours of sleep on that plane. The MK I will do.

Then again my flight back home this week was on an old Jetstar 332.

BNE-SIN with BS in June

From the look of the seat map the QF51/52 BNE-SIN-BNE in June will be on a refurb'd A333.

When we booked a couple of weeks ago it shoed the old map with the Mk I Skybeds...then all our seat assignments disappeared, and when I went into MMB to reassign the map had changed.

Of course this could all change again several times between now and June but fingers crossed QF make good on their intention to get "good penetration" into SIN before rolling out onto other routes...

Hi all,

Looking at flying MEL-PER return, departing either 10th or 12th of March, returning on the 17th March. A couple of questions:
1/ Will any of the flights on these days have the reconfigured A330?
2/ Is there any way I can find this information myself, apart from using a paid-for tool like KVS or EF?

Thanks!

Josh

10 & 12 March MEL-PER:
QF485, QF481

17 March PER-MEL:
QF802, QF648

These are subject to change since domestic configurations get switched around quite a bit especially nearer the flight.

Of course, if anybody wants to tour one of the Maintenance Hangers where this work is being done - see here.

Currently two on the Waitlist

ALL QF's 330's to get lay flight Business seating - Including Domestic

a340-313x how long before departure do you think you can book with confidence? I want to book MEL-PER on 2Mar and PER-MEL on 6Mar but I only want to book if I can get the new business class product?

At this stage I don't think you can book with confidence. In fact I think we are probably a year + away from having confidence on most routes, simply due to the fact that QF have 26 A330s to upgrade. Domestics change all the time with aircraft rotated across the network as required. Internationals can too.

Just experienced the new seats on QF575 SYD-PER today. Previously I had always had the configuration with three center seats where the middle one is converted to a table.

Compared to that configuration, the new seats are a definite improvement. My other main comparison point are the business seats on the A380 (I fly DFW-SYD regularly).

Overall, I prefer the A380 seats due to better lower leg support when you're partially reclined but not in full-bed mode. In full bed mode, I didn't notice a significant difference.

Storage space for books and other small items is better on the new A330 seats than the A380.

One item of note is that the new seating configuration deletes one of the toilets for business class and the remaining one is in a congested area between the galley and flight deck door. Not sure why they deleted one toilet as it did create a significant backup during peak times (just after meal service and shortly before initial decent).

For a red eye flight (which I normally do from PER-SYD), then new seats are an incredible improvement.

Feel free to ask any other questions while it's still fresh in my mind...

moa999 Feb 10, 2015 9:08 pm

Note the toilet deletion is only for the 330-200 (which will be a Domestic airfraft (mostly).
The 330-300 still has the same number of toilets (for less pax)

On the 330-200 J is 1 between 28, Y is 5 between 243 (or 1 bt 48.6)
On the 330-300 J is 2 between 28 (1 bt 14), Y is 6 between 269 (or 1 bt 44.8)

Hi - sorry if this is posted somewhere, but I couldn't find it. 2 part question:

1. What are the chances of getting the new J class seating on A330-200 SYD-PER on QF569 at the end of April?

2. If not likely, what is the difference on the old seating between the A330-200 and the 737-800 which will be on QF571 an hour later? Obviously wide body vs narrow, but what else? My domestic flights in Aus in recent years have never extended beyond a SYD-MEL-BNE triangle.

I'll be making an onward connection from Perth, and would be fine with the extra hour transfer time if I could get the new product SYD-PER, but if the 737 would be not much worse I might take the later flight.

Thanks for any advice.
