Additional Baggage Query
I have a MEL-LAX-YYZ QF points flight coming up. The 2nd leg is obviosuly on AA. Along with all the other wonderful perks (!?) that come with being a PS, I get a 3rd bag on this route...or do I?
The LAX-YYZ flight has an AA code. I don't think your given the option of a QF flight number for points flights? Not online anyway.
Website just states 3rd piece on QF coded flights only, but if it's on the one ticket, would they allow it?
Basically, I'm wanting to know whether:
1. I am able to take a 3rd piece all the way through to YYZ?
2. If so, will AA sting me for excess luggage on LAX-YYZ?
3. Can you even book a QF codeshare points flight and will this then solve everything?
Cheers.

As long as your luggage is checked all the way through, you can take the 3rd piece no problems.
Once you get to LAX, you don't have to check in with AA. (QF will give you a BP for the LAX-YYZ leg as well). Pick up your bags, turn right after you exit quarantine, and put your bags on the baggage transfer conveyer. Easy as that.

As previously stated if all goes well then the 3rd bag is no problem to YYZ; however you should be aware of 2 factors: if you are rerouted on AA (e.g. you are late getting through customs) then AA will impose an excess baggage charge on your invol reroute, as the 3rd free bag is a QF specific benefit only valid on QF metal; for your return trip, check-in at YYZ will also charge for the 3rd bag, if you are returning with it.
Sadly Oneworld does not have a baggage benefit, so there is no way to get around this (don't think the MSC applies to FF benefits, only to baggage allowance of the fare used).

All good then. Thanks for the replies. I was so focused on the flight numbers, that I didn't think of when/where I received all my BP's.
#6...only need the 3rd bag going one way, so no drama for the return leg.
