QF automatic seat assignment?
Apologies if this has been posted before, but searches failed to find any definitive answer.
When the QF booking system takes a booking for non status passengers, does it initially assign actual seat numbers, to the extent that seats would then show as occupied in ExpertFlyer?
We have bookings LHR-SIN-SYD & return for next March/April in Y+.
MMB & checkmytrip don't show any seat assignments.
Due to computer gremlins at booking time I was unable to see a before & after state on Expertflyer, but it now shows just two occupied seats on each trip.
The question is therefore.... might they be ours?

Apologies for not stating in the original post..... I did ring QF.... ( initial booking had been made through Expedia).... and the response was... "you will not know your seat assignment until OLCI opens".
Hence the question on FT

I am not an expert an seat allocation but this doesn't sound right then. You should be able to assign seats and know which ones. In the past this feature only become unavailable once the flight reached a certain load level. But this doesn't seem to be the case if only two seats are showing occupied.

Remember it is a seat assignment request. They will always say that they cannot guarantee these will be the seats finally assigned to you on the day of the flight.
But like others have said it is a matter of calling QF and putting the request in.

Could plug your booking reference into www.finnair.com and use their seat selection interface. Don't even need to have an AY flight in your itinerary.

"My father who has is NB always calls QF after making a booking online and they have always assigned him a seat."
+1 That has always been my experience. Even if NB QFF will always save details and you have a different phone number to ring. OP used Expedia to book. I thought that allowed seat assignment at time of booking?
