Change Question

(BA doesn't seem to play along when booking but AA does)

Double open jaws also seem possible: this is LAX inbound and SFO outbound for EUR 1507

Does "Prior to departure of first flight" apply separately to the outbound and the inbound, and do they literally mean "flight" i.e. segment, or the entire outbound journey?

In other words, after flying VCE - LHR - SFO (itinerary below) on June 24/25, can one then change the return leg (for any date up to 24 June 2025)?
Or can one fly just VCE LHR then change the rest of the trip?

Great deal!

I managed BUD-HEL-LHR-JFK-LAX returning LAX-JFK-HEL-AGP for a trip to Vegas next June. 820TP for £1,284

It refers to just the first segment, but if you’re not stopping over in LHR then for all intents and purposes you probably won’t make the change until after you get to SFO. And assuming the fare has a 12-month maximum stay, then yes you can change the return flights to go back up to a year later (ie, June 2025).

Well the new revenue based sharing between BA, IB, and AA sure throws a monkey wrench in awarding partner miles to AA for Ex Plat. Seems like it will start mid October 2023

I hadn't seen it before, but now I see it. Wow. I purchased a bunch of BA flights recently that are no longer as valuable as they were. Ouch.

Yup real shame. Will cut the earning potential of these fares quite a bit.

I guess the way to go in the future will be AY if available.

Finnair announced their own move to revenue-based Avios a couple of days ago.

Yeah, AY will be the refuge for a little bit, but I expect AA will also go revenue-based on their metal once they implement their new program.

Well, you for sure aren't the lone ranger here. I have three RT LIN-HEL-LHR-LAX booked, first half is good and last half sucks
