Thumbs up Zip Air "Full Flat" J: HNL-NRT $1237 or LAX-NRT $1628 r/t Apr-Oct 2023

[Fare Alert] Fly From the U.S. to Tokyo From $1,237 Round-trip (upgradedpoints.com)

Note: Zip Air is a low-cost carrier - their "business class" seats are direct aisle access lie-flat, but everything including meals are charged a la carte though somehow wi-fi is free.
Still, a really low fare for a lie flat seat to Tokyo.

This is a great deal. Just be aware that if Zipair has operational challenges they typically end up cancelling flights. When that happens and its popular time (eg holidays) they just refund you without much customer service so you may be left on your own to figure things out. Happened to a friend who was booked to fly back to the US on them after his inbound plane encountered mechanical issues. Their only option for him was a refund or flight a weeks later if he didnt agree to downgrade to economy with partial refund (low due to costs of tickets) and even downgraded flight was a 3-4 days later. So maybe be worth it to have a backup plan.

It's it just me or do they not seem to have in flight entertainment?

I guess you can bring your own iPad or laptops.

They have free streaming entertainment to your device, but the content seems limited.

I thought it has always been this price - $1500-$1800 LAX-TYO in J. After all, this price includes nothing but a lie-flat bed.
Mailand and aquanine like this.

This is normal price for Zipair and IMO does not belong in this forum even though it is certainly a good fare for lie flat seat on the route in general.

Would rather take the 1000SGD SIN-TYO rt as more of a deal.

was about booking the trip until reviewed the fare rule - no change of reservation was a deal breaker for me

I'd suspect that's just JL's standard IFE offering, it's pretty pathetic compared to many other long haul carriers.

The nice thing about zipair is that they don't gouge you for one way bookings. Great for trips when you cant find award availability for part of a trip.

Also note Zipair doesn't allow children under 6y old in their business class cabin.
One of the reasons I didn't book them for a great SIN-TYO fare for the family.
