JNB/CPT - JFK/SFO r/t in F is about $4,650 - $5k on nearly any date.

Was thinking of doing 3 r/ts to JFK and would get:

- 327,000 Alaska miles
- 69,870 MR points (5X Airfare)
- Alaska MVP gold 75k
- 132 hours in EK F
Do you mind explaining how you get 327,000 Alaska miles. Thank you.

Perhaps I can help you with that. I have a spreadsheet I developed to calculate EQM & RDM for Alaska & Partners. Flying EK First will give you %100 of the miles flown + 50% bonus for Class of Service (COS) which are both EQM & RDM. Additionally, you get a further bonus of 200% of the miles flown which is RDM only. AS Elite Members get an additional bonus determined by their Elite Tier as RDM. MVP 50%, MVPG 100% and MVPG75K 125%. For an AS MVPG75K you are earning 475% RDM. The following breaks it all down for you and is for ONE return Trip. Someone with no AS Status would attain MVP after one return and be well past qualifying for MVPG after two trips. Considering that as an MVPG75K, one round trip in EK F at $5K would generate enough RDM to book a CX J North America to Australia award RETURN the price doesn't look too bad. The earning on BA are even higher but the experience would definitely be sub par.

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation.

I find GVA very very expensive, but the airport, and everything around the city, is extremely conveniently close and accessible. Can’t say the same about Stansted...

That is so true! I simply don’t get it all this fuss about flying all around the world to experience an “affordable” F class on a route you never really cared for... 🤷🏻.♂️

I'm trying to get 54EQM on AS and wondering if one round trip will do it or will I need two?

I'm based out of LAX and right now the only way I can do one round trip for 50K EQM is LAX-LHR-DEL on BA F but I'm open to any suggestions...

Smile Lowest F fares out of South Africa

With the current exchange rates in SA - purchasing a F ticket out from CPT/JNB and ECON back seems like a very feasible way to fly EK F and not break the bank!

Challenge is to find which is the lowest F fare out of SA to ANY destination. eg CPT - BKK or JNB - IST etc.

In above example ZAR 29,088 was the cost for JNB- STN (F) and IST - JNB (E) - throw away ticket

Has anyone managed to get a fare lower than that for one leg F and one E?

SAfe flying ...

Not necessary in this case - you can book fares with F one-way and Y the other way using the multi-city option on the EK site.
