I think this is a new level of paranoia previously unseen on the forum. Watch out for those secret agents with oneworld purple vests who will force you onto AMS leg ;)
Make sure you don't mention these things over on the BA board |
Good deal but doesn't gives many TPs. it's £3.40/TP, very expensive! :)

Thanks for re-flagging this one. It is a decent fare and routes can be created to maximise night flights (aka avoid the LHR-BKK direct!) what you can do is a AMS-LHR-HKG-BKK-KUL-LHR-AMS through the Holidays making function (ensure your country is set to Netherlands before trying)
You can then get the above combo on many many dates, allowing better aircraft, times and Upgrading to F if you book on dates with Award availability (mainly into 2019) which will make it a very pleasant experience. Best part - can pay EUR300 deposit and pay off as and when you can. Have a play around - the Holiday function always starts with LHR-BKK but you can change to HKG & KUL fairly easily. If it doesn't give you exactly what you want, book and call within 24 hours and change to the flights you prefer, still only paying a deposit :) Thanks! |
Has anyone been able to add a LHR stopover on the way back? Presume this wouldn't add too much APD as the next flight is to AMS.

Reward availability wasn't great, so I used a joker along with my GUF to force an upgrade to First (which sadly is no longer the experience it used to be) on the long haul legs. I am using my final inbound flight to AMS, along with the return half of my positioning flight to give me a mini break (to be taken in Leeuwarden) in mid-November. From memory this added around £100 to the cost; part of this is an additional stopover charge, and the remainder APD. |
Thank you :) I had a feeling I was being a bit wet

Please do let us know if you get detained by the airline at Heathrow |
haha  I'll make sure I 'go-pro' it and post it here, upon my release. :D

Okay. So what’s the deal with the Heathrow stopover? Can anyone enlighten me? I would love to not need to reposition back to AMS. But equally couldn’t mind going to AMS for a short break a month or so later. Thanks |

Just booked the final leg from LGW or LCY if possible, Otherwise, add an overnight in LHR and get off the longhaul and walk out - losing 40TPs only.
|
I’m assuming that I can book this but over the phone with BA? https://www.google.co.uk/flights/#fl...P;e:1;sd:1;t:s For £1467 or thereabouts? Palmer |

Exactly my goal, and while the fare rules make it possible to do a (very) long stopover in KUL and merely pass through ‘destination’ BKK it can only be booked when you ring up BA. As I travel in the very beginning of a new TP collecting year anyway I decided to do it the easy way and book the 1441,- euros AMS-LHR-BKK-LHR-AMS fare and book BKK-KUL-BKK separately. Any experiences? JJBe |

I was wondering what happens in this scenario - if you would go for AMS-KUL first and two weeks later for KUL-BKK and BKK-AMS on the same day (with say 3h in BKK to connect). In case you miss your connection in BKK, are you 'protected'? Will you need to collect luggage in BKK and check in separately for the BKK-AMS part (assuming this is one ticket)??

Hello all, just after a bit of assistance / suggestion with this.
I've managed to put together AMS-HKG-BKK-KUL-AMS for £1500 on Google Flights. With a good 4 days in each city. I'd like to try and fit in SIN some how as part of a little SE Asia holiday, but I'm struggling to get it in the middle some where. I could use Avios and do a BKK-SIN return before the BKK-KUL. |
SIN is a lot closer to KUL than BKK, so why not do a KUL-SIN return, either on Avios, or on Air Asia for about £65 return.
OR fly back from SIN to AMS and do the short-haul trip from SIN-KUL. That would enable you to fly Cathay from BKK to SIN (wide body, lie-flat, as opposed to Malaysian's 737s) |

I would do AMS-HKG via LHR on BA (you can stay almost a whole day in London if you pick a late flight, i.e. arriving in London after 1840); then HKG-BKK and BKK-SIN on CX; a separate ticket for SIN-KUL can be as cheap as £45 return then from SIN-AMS on BA. The BA flights can be on the A380 and the CX A350. With stopovers in every city, it's about £1,650 including the cheap return for SIN-KUL. |

Don't think you can have both SIN and KUL on the BA INCEU28 fare but perhaps more experienced people knows how to do it.

I'll have to give BA a ring I think as I'm planning for this time next year, and Google Flights doesn't have the SIN-AMS pricing at this point for July, but KUL retrun is. Either one doesn't bother me really just wanted to try and get them all in the one booking. |

Bear in mind BKK-KUL on MH I class earns 0 TPs or avios, whilst I class on BKK-SIN CX earns 40TPs and 1000 Avios or so
I'm planning another of these ex-AMS trips for next year, and I will need all the tier points I can get to stay GGL Having now had a look at the fare construction on ITA Matrix, it seems that all non-BA sectors are ticketed in I class, which indeed on MH provides no tier points or Avios. So it looks like I'm going to have to forget about trying the BA 787-900 to KUL I was trying to check booking classes for the trip I've not quite completed, but I can see no way of finding out booking class of sectors already flown on BA.com. Does anyone know if there is a way? |

Yep, they're on the app - thanks. I can't see them anywhere on my e-ticket booking receipt however.

Ah, I wasn't aware KUL was a higher tier point earning destination.
I think I should redo my sums, particularly as I'll be using a GUF and booking via a travel agent so I should actually get 240 points for LHR-KUL rather than 210 points for LHR-HKG, so only -10 points! |
Planning a trip with the Mrs to BKK for the end of November and having a massive dilemma...
Gulf Air and their amazing dreamliner hard product in business (probably the best hard product going) LHR - BAH - BKK £1075... downsides, earns no miles/tier points etc. Don't suppose anyone know when these prices end? BA AMS-LHR-HKG-BKK and back...£1375 got a GUF2 to upgrade to First both ways, earn tier points/miles... but don't want to lose GUF2 yet and I actually think other products would be better for a couple than Rev Herringbone BA First, which doesn't excite me any more than QR J would. Wait for another airline sale, particularly QR (missing that damn Penang fare was annoying) Argghhh |

Another plus for GF - BAH-BKK goes 787 in November - from the 15th from memory.

That's a good price on Golf Air

And Z om MH counts for tier points according the BA site, in this case 120 TP’s. |
If you fly with MH on a normal discounted revenue fare it will be booked in Z class, which will indeed earn avios and tier points; however on the INCEU60 AMS-BKK fares all of the non-BA operated sectors are booked in I class, which on Malaysian is not tier point or avios earning.

I know this is a newbie question, but is the only way to book this to call BA or can it be done online? I saw a previus post about 'british airways holidays' but I couldn't seem to price it using their site. Appreciate the feedback.

As far as I know there is no way to book this fare online. Your choices are to call BA or use an online travel agent. The latter has the advantage that if you are using a GUF to upgrade from business class to first class, the OTA can book the upgraded sectors into revenue class, whereas BA can only book into reward class, so there should be a much greater range of dates available when upgrading will be possible. I have no idea why OTAs can do this and BA themselves can't!

I never had a GUF (yet), but I thought this possibility was only when using "brick and mortar" travel agents, not online travel agents... Which one do you use ?
