I have seen this before with UA, really nothing new. UA has also matched from the DL hub for roughly $2.4k USD to HKG.

By your logic, a lot of Asia-US J in CX may doom all the HKG-US routes too? Well...

Smile Fabulous fare must book (or put on 24 hour hold) TODAY

Thanks OP--great fare--I booked it and EXP desk was surprised how cheap it is. Here is the catch--must either buy today or put on 24 hours hold and buy. I didnt take a chance and bought it. Yay!!!

Well most of the upgrade lists remain long, and there were definitely a lot of people who missed upgrades. If you fly it on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in either direction, J actually seems to sell extremely well in advance. At what prices, none of us really know (other than this sale of course). If you have SWUs at all, you're definitely going to try using them on DFW-HKG if it comes up, unless you somehow fly it more than 4 times a year, but I would REALLY hope a company doing that to someone would fly them in J at least... . Also, I'm sure many people would use miles and copay upgrades on the route as well.

Wish I had the money to book three of these and enjoy three great visits to HKG and renewed EXP status .

Randomly found this today from MSP. Does this accrue 150% bonus on Avios?

You think this route will be on sale, on and off, for the foreseeable future? If so, I might be interested booking this in 2016...

PSP-DFW-HKG is now showing $17,000 RT in J for dates I was looking at. Must be an IT glitch.

LGA-DFW-HKG and back

Yesterday the NYC-HKG-NYC for my dates over Thanksgiving (21NOV out/26NOV rtn) was showing ~ $3200 in I inventory. And then about $2300 DFW-HKG-DFW. I was able to book LGA-DFW-LGA connections on a different record for $400, so total cost ex-NYC was about $2700. The Sheraton Hong Kong is offering a stay-for-4-pay-for-3-nights special, too, which helps with requalifying for SPG Platinum!
