Size/Count limit of "PowerBars"?

Anyone know if there's a size or count limit on nutrition bars, specifically PowerBars? Each individually wrapped bar is 65g, or 2.29oz. It's not the gel-type nutrition bar, it's defintely a solid food.

Tried to find this on tsa.gov, still looking. The closest I could find was http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/holiday.shtm, which is plenty of examples of gels, thick liquids, or liquids.

Thanks!

No limits on solids. Just have to fit in your carry-on.

Yep. It's true. We all know that solids can't explode. Only liquids can explode.

Assuming you carry nothing else, is your count limit determined by weight or volume? Can you carry enough for a 1 hr. flight?

According to their catalog, an Eagle Creek Tarmac 22, max carry on size, is 8 pounds and 2850 cubic inches internal volume. Assuming your bars are typical 4 x 1.5 x 0.5 inch, each is 3 cu in volume and we assume 2.4 oz each with package.

The 2850 cu in will hold 950 bars, which weigh 142 pounds. Typical airline limit is 40 pounds for carry on, so your 8 pound bag gives you 32 pounds for PowerBar cargo. You thus reach your weight limit before you reach your volume limit. You can carry 32 pounds of PowerBars.

Your count limit is thus 213 bars.

Well, I was referring to TSA limits, not carry-on limits. Since my luggage is a Northface Double Track 21, I figure I could fit at least 27 cases in the backpack, and that doesn't include the daypack. I was thinking more along the theoretical lines of 24 bars. The upside is, whatever I eat in bars, can be replaced with an equivalent mass of chocolate on the return!

This is an organization that (technically) won't let you carry on a 4oz bottle of shampoo, yet will let you carry on 24 2.29oz nutrition supplements. Sometimes you gotta check the forums, so you don't have to toss too much at the checkpoint.

I think you should check with TSA. Powerbars contain iron, which could be extracted from the bars and fashioned into a weapon.

What happens if you heated the power bars to a high enough temperature that they melt? They are a potential liquid. Or, if you ground them up with a fine paste and mixed them with water, they'd also be liquid. I'd be careful.

With the haphazard way that some TSO's are prone to interpret things, something like 400mg of vitamin C may be cause for alarm.

Powerbars should be okay. Just don't string wires to each of them and wrap the whole bunch in duct tape. That would be bad.
