Question Gel-Type Candle??

I do not understand the term "gel-type". TSA lists gel-type candles as prohibited carry on items. I have a wax travel candle-it's in a tin with a cover. Can I carry this on? Thanks, flyertalkers

A gel-type candle is clear (usually colored) or translucent -- very different than a traditional wax candle (even a wax candle in a tin, which is what I assume your travel candle is.)

You can see a picture of some recalled ones from Glade here:

Thank you and one more question...Do I have to put the travel candle in my Q size bag or can it be loose?

I don't think it would need to be in your baggie -- it doesn't pour, spread, smear or ooze at room temperature. But it's the TSA, so who only knows what the answer will be at the airport you go through -- and I wouldn't bet that the answer will be the same at other airports.

Thanks, Lupine. Will try NOT putting it in the bag and see what happens.

Last year they confiscated my 6 oz. yogurt (I think vanilla made it more dangerous then plain), so I'm extra careful now!
