UK Security Circus

Just so we don't feel left out on this side of the "pond", this letter was published in a national newspaper (Daily Telegraph) today after a small series of letters last week where people were pointing out what they had been able to take through security.

I am a police officer working at an airport. Security staff will allow me to go through the scanners and search area, carrying my canister of CS spray, baton and handcuffs, but not with a can of soup or pot of yogurt for my lunch.

Incredibly, the same rule applies to firearms officers, who are armed to the teeth but would not be allowed to go through with a bottle of water.
