When I lived in Atlanta, I used to carry my SIG 9MM with me on the subway if I was riding late at night. I don't see what the big deal is with someone carrying a handgun as long as they aren't causing any problems.
BTW - in Georgia you have a Constitutional right to carry a firearm with you (although you must first get a permit, which can't be denied unless there is just cause, such as a felony conviction). The right to carry is also extended to visitors who have a permit from a State that offers reciprocal rights to GA citizens.
Current list is Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming. http://dps.georgia.gov/00/article/0,...375811,00.html
