What's In Your Checked Bag

Yesterday AOL had an article on a TSA agent alleged to have acquired various items from checked bags to the tune of over $200,000. Gee, maybe I didn't just misplace my belongings as suggested by theTSA.

If this stands up, I wonder what sort of a refresher course might be required?

Stay the curse!

I didn't see the AOL article. Is it about this TSO?

I am not 200% positive. So I deleted it from the thread. I am searching for the original article and will post it when and if I am successful. Perhaps someone else out there saw it as well.

Refresher course? You must be joking. There is a reason why some of the people I know travel with just a small carry-on and send the important stuff by FedEx or UPS. At least then you can insure for replacement value and not the statutory $9/lb. It may be cheaper in the long run for CNN et al to just have equipment depots as part of their network, rather than risk further theft by government agents. Knowing your own equipment is useless when the government steals it anyway.

You can always insure for more than that. Many credit cards offer baggage insurance and you can always buy a travelers policy on your own.

I bet that CNN will get every penny back they ask for-- otherwise, I predict the TSA will get slaughtered yet again by the most trusted name in news.

My friend is a photographer and she is traveling SAN-STL next month and she is shipping all her camera gear just because she is afraid it would get stolen out of her bag. She has way too much to carry on.

In looking over the list of threads under security, I noted one titled "A TSA Screener..." which was posted earlier in October. This is the same incident to which I referred, and as such perhaps these threads should be combined.
