My guess:

The airline industry is in the toilet. The FAA cares more about the airline industry than the passengers. The current administration cares more about big business than the people. The airlines are now charging for first checked bags. The FAA and DHW work hand in hand.

So, TSA will come out with a new rule making taking of "normal" carry-ons impossible. They will force everyone to check their bags so the airlines can make lots of money.

The TSA will claim that some "intelligence" they received said one group of baddies found a way to use underwear as a weapon. So, underwear is now banned from the cabin.

In addition, a separate group of baddies found a way to use toothbrushes as lethal weapons so toothbrushes are now banned from the cabin.

And, everyone knows all electronics can be reprogrammed to wirelessly take control of aircraft so all electronics will be banned from the cabin.

You will be allowed to take on reading material, as long as its not pinko liberal stuff that talks about freedom, effiecency, and common sense.

Actually, you do. Better work on your style. ;)

W's got a waterboard at Gitmo Reserved for you. Short black helicopter ride from Boca. And, no, free rides on Air Doesn't Exist do not earn you codeshare CO miles. :p

Poof! What was that? Did a FTer just disappear?

This upcoming SOP change seems timed for maximum disruption power. First the Bad ID Ban, now another change. Onceayear Kettle is on vacation this week. Flew out with one set of rules in place. Rules will be different when Klueless Kettle returns. Kips timing reeks. :td: :td: :td: :td: :td:

I'm sure TSA monitors this site so revealing anything that MIGHT be considered SSI is not a good idea at all. I will just say that on paper, these changes have the potential to improve the experience at the checkpoint.

So I would conclude that by the time new procedures actually see the light of day, they will be distorted beyond recognition by the policy makers. The next successful threat will not be walking through today's checkpoints. It could be as simple as a hundred gasoline tank truck hijackings taking out a few refineries. The TSA should be shutting down the truck driving schools, not harassing private pilot training academies.

You mean the TSA is gone come the end of the month? Hallelujah!

And decrease the experience elsewhere?

Wow, you must have the inside track! But yes, that is indeed the case. I'm currently saving up enough money to retrieve my McDonalds and Wal-Mart uniforms from storage. :p

Well, these new changes will allow for us to free up TSOs to be certified for our new Security Heightened In Terminals program coming to a restroom stall near you!

Personally I'd prefer no play to improved foreplay, No Play. :D

Correct. It's sad and scary that the airline managements don't seem to be willing to take this on and tell the TSA to back off... Airlines are probably doing the calculus from the potential damage from the optics as millions of sheeple are scared to death if any airline exec. called BS on these valiant protectors of our safety.

Only appropriate after the Senator Larry Craig incident. (and perhaps more effective than 90% of what you currently waste resources on.) :o

From the blog

re upcoming changes:

- 311 will be laxed greatly. The officers' judgment will finally be allowed instead of arbitrarily taking away all liquids.

- You get as many tries through the x-ray as necessary.

- The goal is for the biggest airports to all have an average peak wait time that is less than 10 minutes (and smaller airports to have less) I think...
