"CLEAR" quick security lines in NYC
As the CLEAR system finally seems to make inroads at LGA (finger B) and JFK (terminals 1,4,7), does anybody know what are the plans for expanding it and why American Airlines seems to shy away from it ? The length of their lines especially at LGA finger D should be a strong incentive...

Many U.S.-based premium/frequent fliers (myself included) view CLEAR as a slap in the face. At several airports, CLEAR has basically bribed the airport authority to eliminate frequent traveler lines (e.g. lines for elite status passengers and first class pasengers), and replace them with CLEAR program. Hence, a passenger that has already paid for a first class ticket would have to pay an annual fee to CLEAR to take advantage of first-class line.
I think that U.S. airlines realize it's unpopular with their best customers, and hence haven't been advocating for it.

)You have to ask yourself...
- Would you trust a private company that is conspiring with the government to not divulge your sensitive personal data?
- Would you pay for the privilege?
- Would you do so with close to zero benefit?

Would it change your mind if you knew that the airport authorities get a cut of the revenue CLEAR takes in?What should you do? The first thing to do is to keep your $100 in your pocket and not give it to such a sleazy overpromising organization as the CLEAR folks...

I would complain to the airlines for letting the Elite lines disappear.

Our airport authority is trying to build a subway line to run to IAD that will also benefit local commuters. Much better they get it than Kip and his army of maroon-sweatered ID checkers.

You'll still pay Kippie and his band of _______s. You'll have to pay Clear on top. For those of us that fly a lot or pay-up for F/J tickets, it's another tax.
Clear is just like converting freeway lanes to service roads and replacing the expressway with toll roads. The "State" (or airport authority) benefits, but the customer has to pay more for something they got already. I know a bit about airport franchise contracts - once something like this is in place, any potential competition must stop. The only way the airlines will have a say is if they revise their contracts to specify that they get an elite/F/J line.
Legalized extortion.
