Near riots at some gates as the sheep finally get fed up, critical mass, explosion, rebirth.

I'm most worried about the rebirth part. I would prefer a black dwarf.

Some of them look like they've never bought shampoo in their lifetime.

Just remember...it's only explosive if combined with the conditioner.

Capitalism has long trumped airport security.

Tell that to the folks at TSL.
Honestly OLCI is going to be replaced with secure kiosks.

If or when this happens my flying days will be over. It is getting to the point the hassle is just not worth it (not only TSA). My telecommuting hours have already increased this year and I expect more to come.

Unfortunately I'd have to agree with you. Just like how they piloted going through security with just an itin and that went away.

I think the leaders of that town already suffered a unnoticed bioterror attack some time ago, and it rendered them all idiots.

If you are still waiting in the TSA controlled boarding lines, it's already too late for you. You've become what Ray Bradbury says is the future: "I predict the future and try to prevent it."

Clearly there are no Yale grads running New Haven.

Things keep up like this and we'll all remain barricaded in our houses. It'll be great news for the online shopping business.

Terrorists always bicycle back to the "scene of the crime" to discuss their plan with officials.

Option #1: Unless TSA finds an honest to goodness bomb in their screening process, sometime in the next 4-5 years, I think TSA as we know it will disappear in favor of privatized security (pre 9-11) with a few upgrades but will not require shoes to be removed, liquids banned, ect.

The tides are already turning, just stand in a security line and listen to the conversations about how this security screening is a waste of time. It's not just FT'ers whining anymore. The flying public sees a bunch of fast food employees rummaging through their belongings on a mindless search for shampoo without having ever succeeded in finding a liquid explosive device. Even the DEA has successful drug busts to advertise, the TSA has had nothing other then no further hijackings to support their existence (thanks to cockpit doors not TSA security).

Now if TSA finds a bomb intended to bring down a plane, were all screwed, because not only will they stay around for at least the next 50 years they'll have increased funding to the point that Option #2 is the outcome.

A hypothetical Gertrude Q. Sheeple (who hasn't flown herself in years, and thought the post-London measures "probably necessary" at the time) hears stories about her great-granddaughter's pediatric cough syrup being seized as A Big Catch because ... the Rx says "Annie Sprague" and the kid's bp reads "Ann Q. Sprague" while the TSA officer tells the mother that's "just too much of a risk to allow." Then, Gertrude's good friend, Linda Kowtow, tries to bring a small jar of specialty jam for her own aged, shut-in mother as a gift; the item is seized with a haughty "You should've known better!"

With each instance of overkill, it becomes tougher to claim "all for safety".
