Got you.

Repeating yourself does not refute my argument re: discovery vs. "making up."
Again, where was it?

Really, though, these are not scientific principles that can be measured. They're ethics. So how can they be "discovered?"

Who defines "right" and "wrong?"

Pretending is saying things you don't mean or believing in things you don't know. There's no pretense on my part.
You are correct. I apologize as that was not my intent. I was unclear. I mean pretend as in equate. Its probably a Southern thing. We aren't the most articulate, probably because we can't get off our farm animals long enough.

You're entitled to rely on your beliefs and opinions if you like. But I'll stick to objective facts, thanks.
Objective? Quite the contrary. Totally subjective. "Right" and "wrong" definitions have undergone more evolution than Darwin's underwear.

@:-) We should probably take this offline unless Cholula or VPescado wants to bother detaching our OT exchange for dispatch to OMNIville. @:-)
Sounds good to me. I love these kinds of exchanges. Lots to learn. I don't know if you drink or not but these are better done over a bottle of wine or a few glasses of scotch.

That said I may be offline for a day or two. I'll be looking for you tomorrow afternoon if possible or day after if not.

Thank you for the excellent discussion.

*gosh*

Thank you both, too! I'm enjoying this very much as well!! I don't get the chance to do this sort of back and forth in writing very often. It's good practice -- and challenging.

Great question. This area of metaethics is what turns my philosophical crank, as it were. "What are ethical facts and by what means do we discover them?"

Let's pick it up again, later? I'm toast for the day.
