MCO version of stop and frisk

We recently worked in Mouseland and on returning via MCO was told that my wallet had to be removed and put into a tub. When I questioned this the response was, "we don't allow anything in your pockets here!". I find this way over the top in terms of normal security. Anyone else had the same issue?

I've heard of the wallet carnival being instituted sometimes at various airports, but not recently.

Sounds like MCO making up its own rules again.

there is absolutely nfw i am going to leave my wallet or anything else of value (i.,e. cell phone) exposed in "the little grey bin".

why not simply leave your wallet in the pocket of your coat when you put your coat in the bin. i do it all the time and have never been questioned about it. wallet (& other goodies) in pocket of outermost garment-outermost garment removed-outermost garment in the bin-done.

A couple of years ago I had to do this in PBI. This was my return & I felt I had no choice. No way will I do this again. I don't care what else has to happen. Like some one else said I think they are making their own rules on this one.

That is the most logical method and the method I use.

Empty your pockets into your jacket/briefcase/carry-on well before the checkpoint and then "re-constitute" when you are clear of the checkpoint.

yup-i do the psuedo-strip as i'm line (watch, cell phone <AND belt clip>, etc) so that the only thing that goes in the bin is my sweater 'n jacket along with whatever change i have (placed on the jacket with the sweater over it)

There is no reason to have to take your wallet out before you go through the WTMD unless it contains metal. If that's the case, either take the metal out and keep the wallet or place the wallet inside your bag or jacket. Never leave it in plain view. If your wallet does alarm the WTMD and/or HHMD, the SOP says it HAS to be x-rayed. When I'm wanding someone and thier wallet alarms, I always hand them thier paper money before I x-ray the wallet. I don't think that's SOP, but a supervisor suggested we do that to help cover our behinds in case someone accusses us of stealing. FWIW, I always keep my wallet in my pocket when I go through the WTMD when both working and traveling. I keep a spare car key in there and it has never alarmed a WTMD anywhere.

A few years ago - late 2002 or early 2003 - a TSA screener inspected my walllet by hand. Neither the wallet nor its contents contained metal, other than the data strip on my credit cards. However, Mr. TSA screener had to be on the front line of the War on Terra`.

MCO is my home airport, and this is pretty regular here... I typically keep my wallet on me and no beep, no problem. However, the few times I've been made to remove it (OR ELSE!), it goes in my coat pocket through the WTMD. I've gotten secondary a few times also for doing this though.

MCO is getting worse and worse every day... maybe it's time to move

Going to FRK from ORD my 10 year old son was asked 'do you have anything in your pockets?' 'No', he replied. 'Nothing?!' the man asked.. So, my son shrugged, dug in deep to his pocket, and put a small empty candy wrapper in the security man's dish. ^ Atta boy!
