The folks who make these rules don't have to live by them.

Wow

Last Monday, the "Director of TSA Operations" at PHX called me and asked me about the complaint that I filed. He asked for specific times and names of the agents I dealt with. I told him specifics, including the fact that they did not seem to know the difference between Liquid, gels, aerasols and balms. I also told him about the greyhound comment. HE APOLOGIZED!!!!! I could not believe it!!! He also told me that he was going to reprimand the agents involved and to add this info to his training agenda!!!

This is far better than I expected!!!

Perhaps some screeners can weigh in, but, from what I know about the TSA's organizational structure, I'm not sure there is someone called the "Director of TSA Operations". There is an FSD and a couple of Assistant FSDs, one of whom is the AFSD for Screening. You may have been BSd by some public affairs weenie for the sole purpose of getting you off their backs.

If you've got a number on caller ID or some way to call back, make up an excuse to call the airport and ask for the "Director of TSA Operations" and see what happens.

The reason why my BS Meter got pegged was that, years ago, I knew some guys in the Pentagon who would do exactly this to help the Public Affairs people deal with complaints. You'd be surprised how often the complaining member of the public believe their complaint was actually resolved in their favor.

The area code on my caller ID was 602, the PHX area code. I just called it back and it said that it is the number for the Customer Support Manager for the TSA. So, either I heard the title wrong, or he misrepresented himself, but either way, the call was great!
