what about water?
BTW, I did take an empty Ensure Plus bottle in my med bag through TSA then put water in it before getting on the plane. I then drank from this container in flight just long enough to take med during the flight which was my only purpose for doing this.
Does that break some rule? Can you only take on purchased water (post-TSA inspection) in clear containers?
I was also glad that the fa realized that my smartphone could turn off the phone and the device be left on so I could explore the other features. The phone is new to me so I am trying to learn how it works.

They have a real nice pdf of the official memo HERE that prints out all purdy with the policy spelled out clearly. It includes the TSA letterhead and signature so it looks nice and official if you need the agent to have a reference of TSA's own policy. I'm sure there is probably a copy of that exact memo on the bulletin board in the back room if they bother to read it.

Getting Better?
Maybe they are starting to get more consistant
I flew from BDL the day after the Freedom Zips were annouced (last week). I had a 4 oz. bottle of saline in the bag. There was a TSA pre-screening guy who asked for liquids, gels, etc. I dutifully showed him my Zip and he tried to confiscate the saline claiming it was over 3 oz. I quoted the rule "4 oz of contact lens solution". He said that was only for medicines. The bottle didn't say "medicated" so it was not acceptable. I protested gently so he called his supervisor who immediately said it was OK.
On the return trip, 3 days later, starting at RNO, there were 2 pre-sreeners. When they zeroed in on the saline, I thought I was in for it again. But, instead, they flipped through some pages in a ring binder and made a note on the back of my BP with something like "Cat II, 4 oz".
This week, through BDL again, they let me through without any discussion but made the same notation on the BP. I guess they finally got the memo.

Aaargh!!!
i had exactly the same problem at iah on 10/5 (thursday) and have rather a long thread i typed up about it currently stuck in a non-functioning computer. i escalated through the agent and the supervisor to a second supervisor before i was finally allowed to take the saline. women (agent and first supe) were insisting that only 3 oz of saline was allowed.
these guys give pax a hard time about not knowing the regulations--THEY don't even know them.
hubby was watching the whole thing from a safe distance, he told me he almost approached them to say 'really my wife probably knows more about this than you do, you should just believe her' but decided it wouldn't speed things up. i'll add my thread if/when my computer comes back.

I flew to LGW and back recently with a 4oz contact lens solution bottle. I kept it outside the Ziploc and hand it to the screeners each time. I didn't have any problems in any of the 5 checkpoints that I had to go through (in the way there, I got checked at the concourse, then at the gate; in the way back, at the concourse, the gate, and then again when connecting domestically).
I flew SFO-DFW-LGW with AA

Category 2 liquids such as contact lens solution are high level explosives so long as they're in liquid form and in quantities of more than 4 ounces. If in quantites of 4 ounces or less, it is widely believed by the Take freedomS Away goons that these types of liquids are no longer considered high level explosives but are considered "dead" weight that anyone can carry around.
Whereas Category 5 liquids such as toothpaste and gummi bears have the potential for catastrophic destructive force if mixed with other "classified" substances such as mouthwash (a Category 4 liquid).
Coming soon, the inability to travel unless your shoes were issued by and bought from a approved government contractor.

not really sure this is worth its own thread now that it's clearly happening other places..but here's the thread i started before my computer ate it...

unbelievable. (not to regular readers of this forum, but there was a part of me that couldn't really believe the tsa would be so clueless about their own rules, despite multiple reports to the contrary. okay, now i'm a believer. they're idiots.)
this am 10/5at iah tsa does a bag check, telling me my 4oz of saline is okay in checked baggage, but not carryon. i explain, nicely, to the female agent that 'i'm pretty sure' that 4oz is okay for saline. she says no. tells me why i'm wrong. i try again, get nowhere, ask for a supervisor. supe comes over, explains to me that it would be okay if it was 3 ounces, but not four. tells me some non prescription drugs are exempt. i tell her again, really i do know what i'm talking about. saline is okay at four ounces. nope. she tells me i'll have to check it. i agree, figuring i'll sneak it back in in my pocket. she asks me which bag i'll be checking. as we're going through this again, male supe?/agent comes over and whispers something in the supervisor's ear, looking at me.
i say, again, 'really it's okay to bring four ounces of saline.' she gives me a look that would melt glass and says 'did you hear what he said to me?'
no, i didn't, but i had a hunch...now she tells me that the saline is okay, as long as it runs through separately (NO!!!!) and she's going to go do that right now. she also tells me i was supposed to note it on my bp...was i? actually i did think that was something they did...but goodness knows i'll do it in the future.
just thought i'd share. mr kk keeps saying he's not going to fly until they figure out how to do this effectively...i keep hoping that'll happen soon. (i thought about writing to 'kip hawley is an idiot' on my freedom bag, but i don't have the guts, frankly. kudos to those who do ^)
