I've never had a problem with these huaraches. I wear the Pachuco rojo style.

Even got thru notorious shoe carnival airports like HNL with those.

Adilettes? It's what I wear (pretty much all the time), and I'm about 66% on going through without a challenge.

You got me beat, HNL tries to get me to take off my dunhams but every other place is OK with both of these.

Type One

Type Two

Can't tell the heal on type 2, but it might be a little more than an inch. Can't see why type 1 would be a problem though.

Looks like Keen & other companies are coming out with some "dressier" versions now. Cool! The "over-the-toe" thing has me sold---it has been great toe-stubbing-prevention when walking thru crowded plane aisles. Nothing like bashing your toe on the metal support of a seat, or some wayward carry-on on the floor, etc. And, the "leather" they're made out of is "machine washable." (I have a pair of their hiking sandals made from the same leather, and yep, it's washable.)

Because it's HNL TSA, nuff said when it comes to the shoe policy.

Neither are over an inch. Type 2 was measured with a caliper after I disagreed with the "situation." About 7/10 of an inch. Come to think of it, the "situation" was in HNL.

Seriously, I got no problems with TSA in HNL except for the way they handle the shoe policy. I usually transport a bunch of electrical junk and one agent and I are getting to know each other pretty good, unfortuantely he's always the one swabbing my stuff and not at the detector. I think he know's it's me just by looking at the carry on

I have seen TSA screeners tell pax to put flip-flops back on rather than put them in the bin: at JAX, SAN, and MYR, to name a few.

I have also personally been told, "Those must come off," when wearing flip-flops at IAD and RDU, and at CRW was told I had to remove my leather sandals. (and to settle debates, the phrasing was "must," not "recommended," with the screener physically blocking the WTMD)

I did once see one of these same screeners doing different duty (at the x-ray) when her co-worker let me through wearing tennis shoes without a word. The look she shot at me when I complimented the guy and at the WTMD guy himself that day was lethal!
