TSA Overpaid (insert witty comment here)

Other than the shoe carnival I've not had problems with Pittsburgh TSA, but they are SOOO not worth it. Gimme back my money!
The top 10 TSA managers based at the Findlay airport earn an average of nearly $20,000 more than Pittsburgh-area workers in similar positions at private companies, according to a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review analysis of TSA salaries with U.S. Department of Labor data. One employee, Dale Palmer, a training manager, is paid $48,000 more than the local average for training managers in private industry.

Interesting that government actually pays better than private industry for once. I don't have a problem with paying above average though as long as it's not grossly above average. And of course, the more you make, like at the FSD level, the more accountability there should be.
And if they're making $140k+ to run the shoe carnival, maybe I should be a shoe carnie.

Government pay is all out of whack. Check out these locality pay tables: http://www.opm.gov/oca/05tables/pdf/saltbl.pdf
The base GS salaries in Houston are more than they are in New York or Los Angeles. Why do I think W had something to do with that?

Scale I'm on pays about 10k a year better at each point.
Some agencies are ditching the GS scales to go to more of a pay for performance plan. Some agencies are already testing it out, and we're supposedly supposed to be going to it in the next year or so.

Why would it be surprising that FSD's and their staff are getting paid ridiculous amounts of money while screeners, who get the short end of the stick anyway, are at the bottom of the pay scale.

My memory is fuzzy, so I'll try to be more precise, but there's a strange metric involved...
