it stinks to have a common name
Thousands of people must be named John Robinson and John Lewis and Bill McDonald. We laughed when parents started naming their kids Toyota Corolla and Dakota Moon Unit, but the holders of weird names are now having the last laugh.

What a heck of an indictment of a pathetic system run by a pathetic agency! I'm glad these brave people went public, including their pictures.
...and these victims are only a fraction of the tip of the iceberg.
...and the only official who could comment was that vacuous Amy von Walter.
It was notable that two of the folks opted out of the meaningless letter because they couldn't trust the TSA with their personal information.
<-- Doesn't even come close

"We recognize there are deficiencies in the current system, Von Walter said. Again, this highlights the importance of the Secure Flight program, she said. "
Translated: We continuously **** up our databases so you can join another one that may or may not prevent you from getting hassled.
Come on, and hassling a Major General? If Congress doesn't realized how ****ed up the system is (TSA obviously doesn't), then they're a lost cause too.

I just emailed my congresswoman and senators about this. It only takes five minutes, and the stupidity of this system will be noticed when there are enough complaints from voters.

The Transportation (in)Security Administration can go **** themselves. Stuff like this will make the sheeple and the *******s at the T(in)SA/DH(in)S demand a national ID system so that they can feel safe and secure.
What happens after the national ID system is enacted and a "terrorist attack" were to occur? How do we differentiate the "non-terrorists" from the "terrorists"? What happens if the "terrorists" are discovered to be "one of us" like the UK transport bombers?

My first flight after 9/11 was on 9/20 going from JFK - DFW for the AA FlyerTalk Metroplex DO.
The inbound aircraft from DFW was delayed by 2-3 hours because an infant had the same name as someone on the no-fly list. It took them a few hours to get clearance for the infant to travel. It wasn't even a toddler - the baby was less than a year old. I could imagine a really dedicated, evil toddler being a threat to the plane, but infants can't even crawl.

We can be politically correct, and continue to put military personnel with top secret clearances on lists, or we can concentrate on individuals who are more likely the problems. We only have so many resources, and Americans have only so much patience.
. The OK City bombing killed more people than all of the London bombings combined. OTOH, if we have (because the TSA is an agent of the American people; it acts in our name) people with TS clearance on the list, then something is very wrong.

The fundamental flaw with this list -- other than it forces people to prove their innocence and harasses citizens and our guests for absolutely no reason -- is that it's not a list of people. It's a list of names, partial names, partial names, and transliterations of names. The TSA could have been just as effective if they had loaded the list of names from a city's white pages.

Mother of all Inventions-A Unique Name
We laughed when parents started naming their kids Toyota Corolla and Dakota Moon Unit,
It was the late gonzo music genious Frank Zappa who named his kids Dweezil, Moon Unit, and Ahmet Rodan, and Diva.
Doubt many in Whatever-stan name their kids Moon Unit Zappa.
From a Zappa biography:
Typically, Frank Zappa insisted his kids would always have more trouble because of their last name.
Once again, he was ahead of his time, yet he never lived to see the HSA-TSA.
