Changes in DCA Security Procedures

I am sorry if this has already been posted here; I didn't search very far back.

The 30 minute rule has been relaxed. You can get out of your seat; only limitation is you can't use forward lavatory.

About time they made this adjustment!

I'm guessing FC passengers have to walk to the back of the plane? By the time the drink cart is out of the way and you can get back there, the plane will be outside the 30 min area and the forward lav can be used anyway.

Did this just happen this month? I flew to DCA last month and the 30 minute rule was still in place.

Yes it happened a few days ago. I'm still waiting for the anouncement that those responsible for this idiocy will be caned. No luck yet...

I think caned might be a little strong but I would go for canned.

Caned would suit me just fine.

Hell, I would settle for a slap on the wrist at this point.

I am traveling to Washington National Airport in a couple of weeks and also found out about this change before seeing this thread. Thank you for sharing this information with us, Marq.

Although Delta Air Lines passengers will be affected by this change, the topic really does not pertain to Delta Air Lines. Rather, it is a general issue pertaining to security. Therefore, the new and more appropriate home forum of this thread will be the Travel Safety/Security forum.

By all means, please continue the discussion.

Regards,

On my 7/14 ORD-DCA flight, the UA pilot announced that the 30-minute rule would be no longer the following day. So the rule was removed on Friday July 15th.
