Funny how the London residents seem none too happy about this membership...

As I have said before, the check is much deeper than a computer or fingerprint query. There is a form like the sf85 that has to be filled out and it is a pain in the butt to complete. The agency then sends out letters and calls the people on the form to verify all the information that you listed. IF people dont answer or ignore the requests then the agency comes back to you to see what is going on. The only difference between TSA background checks and Secret clearance is that the FBI personally comes to check references that you list. On ours its all done by mail and phone.

Shortly after 9/11, Thomas Friedman wrote in The New York Times something like " The terrorists are sitting there laughing at us. They blew up our buildings and our response was to take knives off airplanes and eliminate curbside check in".

I agreed with Freidman at the time, and still strongly agree.

Small-minded people like Norm Mineta had to do "something," and do something they did.

Of course, it had nothing to do with preventing a repeat, but many American sheople went along with it.

Too bad so many people are so stupid.

Who was it who said something to the effect of: "Think how stupid the AVERAGE person is. Now just consider that half of the citizens are even more stupid"?

We've been using "real" knives and forks on NW (in F or WBC) for the past year and a half (maybe longer).

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity...and I'm not sure about the universe.
