Candy and stickers for making it through security?

A few weeks ago my boarding pass was flagged for a random security check in the Tucson Airport. As a present for getting through the checkpoint successfully, the TSA administrators offered me a choice of candy (Tootsie pop? Mini Hersheys bar?) I hear children also get stickers to entice them through the metal detectors.

Im doing some freelance writing and thought there might be a story in here somewhere:

Has anything similar happened to you? Candy? Stickers? Something else? Do other airports offer similar incentives?

Thanks!!

A lot of kids are scared of the WTMD and the use of stickers and stuff usually can't get them to walk thru without a problem. It's a pretty good idea.

A lot of kids are scared of strangers taking away their things, touching their bodies in places their bathing suits cover, forcing them to remove pieces of their clothing, and threatening them with punishments if they don't comply.

Come to think of it, I'm scared of those things too. Kids are pretty smart.

Thanks for one of your usual posts.

Of course if all that stuff didn't happen, kids would still be afraid of something like the WTMD. So maybe for once a airport got smart and found a way to help with the problem without having to harrass someone?

Ah, but all that stuff does happen. So yes, I think it's very nice and shows some sensitivity on the part of the TSA to try to make the process easier for kids.

But as the saying goes, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Sometimes I wonder what the point is with you . I agree with you sometimes and sometimes I don't. But for once the TSA did something right, can't you look passed one of the many bad things and be happy with a small good thing.

It kind of shows that were stepping off this cop-like security as some of you put it and trying to be more customer service security at this point. Maybe the rock will start to tumble in the right direction in the next few months, you never know.
