Thanks for the tip! ^^ But, there is no moderator here, so why bother? And after all, an esteemed TalkBoard member surely wants to play by the rules, no? Without all of the gamesmanship?

And playing by the rules he surely is. To whom may I ask was Spiff's post directed personally?

Whoa? What personal attack? Spiff was responding to an anonymous TSA character in a previous poster's message. It's pretty much the equivalent of yelling at a pitcher on TV in a baseball, but actually no.. it is even less personal than that.

A personal attack would be something like "hey, Jeff, your mother wears army boots."

Maybe screeners are important in fantasyland, but here in the US...

The future leader of a major foreign power is hardly like any other tourist. Special arrangements SHOULD have been made to accomodate/protect such an important visitor. The fact that he was left completely unprotected, is a serious breach of security IN ITSELF! NO protection from the state department? OUTRAGEOUS! They claim to be keeping track of terrorists, yet they can't even keep track of the future king of Spain????

Proper arrangements would have been made if the Prince from Spain had contacted the US with 72 hrs notice instead of 6 hrs. Should he have been treated the way he was, no.

But then again, TSA system is this "Everyone is a terrorists until we find no weapons". It sucks but it's the fact of the matter. Even screeners get repeatly screened in a day, of course not the same as everyone else aka shoes being the only real difference.

On a side note:

Letizia Ortiz is a very beauitful young lady

You cannot explain stupidity. I can understand your aggravation. Common sense seems to have left the checkpoints in some places.

His people screwed the pouch on this one. There are not many state department folks on stand-by at the airports to react to situations like this. Sounds like piss poor planning on their part.

Question 'His people' may have screwed the pooch, but who let the dogs out?

With six hours notice, the state department SHOULD have had time to bake him a freaking cake! It only takes ONE hour to fly a real security team from DC to Miami. There's just no reason to risk sending a high profile individual through regular security.
I ask again. If they can't even keep track of our high profile guests, why are we trusting them to keep track of terrorists? The terrorists won't give six hours notice either.

Not really, just busting chops. I understand how frustrated Spiff must be that his whole life revolves around this message board.

(Is that a personal attack?, hmm)

People probably thought that the Founding Fathers were pretty silly, too, wasting all their energy trying to break free of England. How silly, right?

Spiff is doing all of us a favor by fighting for freedom. I support him 100%.

You poked fun at me!!! I am so offended! This is clearly a TOS violation!!! Moderator! Moderator! Save me from all these unjustified personal attacks! Oh! The humanity!!!

[singsong]I'm going to tell! I'm going to tell![/singsong]

I feel it is my personal responsibility to report all possible TOS violations, even such obvious, semi-good-natured ribbing. It is my duty! I can't stand the though of any possible rule infraction at any time!!

I bet the Prince of Spain doesn't suffer this kind of personal abuse!

Waaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

[For those of you very slow on the uptake, this post is purely sarcastic ]
