Passport verification- common name

Hi! New to the forum and have a question regarding passport issues.

I have a very common first and middle name with the surname ‘smith’ for the past 10 years my passport never allows me to check in online and I always need to seek assistance at e- gates. I nearly missed my flight travelling from Canada to Mexico as the airline had to send pictures of my passport to “clear” me to fly. I have never been denied entry or denied boarding so I know there is no major issues, it is however a massive inconvenience and adds time on to every trip.

has anyone else had similar issues and is there a way to somehow get the passport or name verified?

thanks !

You didn't write which country issued your passport. If you have a Canadian passport, apply for a Canadian Travel Number. If you have a US passport, apply for a Redress Control Number.

Shouldn't it be just based on which country you were travelling from (and maybe to?). Lots of Canadian residents may have foreign citizenships/passports and travel on those, but would have to go through the Canadian Travel Number if they were flagged?

I guess some unfortunate people could end up having to go through multiple country's no-fly-list exception system if they got flagged globally...
