JFK is a pretty good port of US entry and better than LAX in a bunch of ways. I wouldn't expect an insurmountable problem in such situation at either place but JFK has relatively better attitudes than LAX.

When you've just come off a flight and you are seeking entry into the US, it is best to give them what they want, what they expect to see. It is not the time to discuss cultural differences in naming practices.
The ordinary persons working at US ports of entry also are practically exposed to differences in naming practices, and there usually is not much if any discussion about it at airports from US Goverrnment employees at airports and yet they resolve things generally without a problem for the passengers, American or otherwise. [American perspectives on and approaches to naming practices involve cultural differences too as the US remains a diverse place.] Even the generally not as well-educated TSA employees are practically exposed to differences in perspectives about naming practices, which aren't even uniform and consistent amongst US citizens let alone foreigners.
