Anyone use a RFID blocking passport case?
I asked a relative for one for Christmas. The Stewart/Stand woven stainless steel passport case/sleeve. http://www.amazon.com/Stewart-Stand-...4451612&sr=8-1
I took a look at other ones and Travelon had an interesting ballistic nylon and leather one that was cheaper.

I bought one of these since I already have a passport holder that I like. I have no idea how effective it is...

You could test it with an RFID employee badge or give it to someone who has a badge and can test it at their office.

I use a Kena Kai wallet and a Kena Kai Passport cover - not inexpensive, but attractive and (for the wallet) VERY durable:

Department of State was much faster with having the equipment to issue the documents with RFID chips than DHS has been with deploying the equipment to read the RFID chips. Once the Ports of Entry's have the equipment installed in enough numbers that it effects the operation (likely to be years) I would not be surprised if the non-functioning E-Passports end up being cancelled and re-issued on a case by case basis. Keep in mind the Passport belongs to the Federal Government and not the user. Tampering with the Passport can still be a crime and if the RFID chip repeatedly fails due to being physically damaged the user may have to explain why that keeps happening. However, for the foreseeable future I don't think anybody will even notice.
As a side note, those of you who have E-passports and are taking a hammer to it, are you also taking a hammer to the RFID chip in your Passport card and NEXUS cards? Though to be fair the information on the chip in the Passport card and NEXUS cards is different than the information on chip in the passport book and is read at much different distances.

The question is do you use either of those two cards for their intended purpose of crossing the land border of the United States. The land border ports do have the proper equipment to read them. It is a very quick way to lose the privilege of participating in the NEXUS program to have tampered with the card in that way. Passport card not so much because it is harder to not issue a Passport card but the NEXUS program is a very different animal and is much easier to lose the privilege of using the program as this is a trusted traveler program and you can't be very trustworthy if you are tampering with the card.
This hammer idea is another example of the kind of bad advice I was referring to in another thread. There are other alternatives that achieve the same end and have the added bonus of actually being legal and don't include tampering with the card.
You want the TSA to abide by the laws, rules, and regulations of the United States. However, when those laws, rules and regulations are in conflict with what we want to do becomes pretty easy to justify ignoring those laws, rules and regulations. Sounds kind of like the how the current TSA is characterized doesn't it.
Pot meet Kettle.
